ITDC Sets a Target of 145,000 Spectators for the Indonesian MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit

The 2026 Indonesian MotoGP will be held at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on 9-11 October this coming year. InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is targeting 145,000 spectators, representing a 15.7 percent increase compared to the previous edition.

Troy Warokka, ITDC Operations Director and Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, stated that preparations are continuously being finalised through coordination with all relevant parties, including the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police.

During an official meeting with West Nusa Tenggara Police Chief Inspector General Kalingga Rendra Raharja in Mataram, ITDC presented full readiness plans covering site zone management, visitor access and mobility arrangements, cross-functional operational readiness, and all planned on-site event activation programs.

"This coordination strengthening is implemented in line with the continuously growing scale of the Indonesian MotoGP event year on year," he stated.

Alongside the spectator growth target, ITDC also highlighted the substantial economic impact generated by this championship. Troy revealed that running the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia has delivered a national economic multiplier effect valued at IDR 4.96 trillion.

This prestigious motorsport event has also made a major contribution to the development of the Mandalika area. As of 2025, the MotoGP series has driven IDR 713 billion in new local investment.

"As of 2025, this event has stimulated IDR 713 billion worth of new investment within the Mandalika Zone," he added.

Local communities have received direct positive benefits. The 2025 MotoGP event recorded over 3,000 local workers recruited from West Nusa Tenggara, around 67 percent of whom were residents of Central Lombok Regency.

In addition, 202 local culinary and craft micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) participated directly in event operations, alongside more than 600 additional MSMEs operating around the circuit precinct and Kuta Mandalika.

High visitor demand was reflected in hotel occupancy rates, which reached 100 percent across the entire Mandalika zone and averaged 90 percent across the city of Mataram.

To accommodate the tourist surge during the previous MotoGP edition, commercial airlines operated a total of 44 extra flights bound for West Nusa Tenggara.

"During the last event, hotel occupancy hit 100 percent throughout the Mandalika zone with an average 90 percent rate in Mataram city, while 44 additional flights were deployed to West Nusa Tenggara to accommodate the high tourist travel volume," he concluded.

With an increased spectator target set for 2026, security arrangements have been made the highest priority. The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police has completed a full evaluation of the 2025 event operations as the baseline for refining all security strategies.

This evaluation covers strengthened cross-agency coordination, optimised site security, spectator crowd flow management, traffic diversion schemes, and improved operational response readiness, all implemented to ensure the 2026 Indonesian MotoGP runs safely, comfortably and successfully.
