The Group A race of the 2026 AFF Cup has tightened further after Singapore held Vietnam to a goalless draw. This result affects the provisional standings position of the Indonesia National Team, after Garuda previously defeated Timor Leste 3-0.

Indonesia currently sits in second place in the Group A temporary standings, collecting six points from two matches. The Garuda squad recorded two wins, scoring eight goals while only conceding once.

The victory over Timor Leste at Chonburi Stadium, Thailand on Friday local time became crucial capital for Indonesia in the competition to reach the semi-finals.

Indonesia's three winning goals were scored by Shayne Pattynama, Thom Haye, and Mitchell Baker.

Singapore At The Top Of The Standings

Despite failing to secure a win, Singapore remains at the top of Group A standings. The Lions have collected seven points from three matches.

This additional single point was obtained after Singapore played a 0-0 draw against Vietnam at My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi on Friday local time.

With this result, Singapore remains unbeaten in three matches. They lead by one point over Indonesia who have only played two fixtures.

This situation makes the race at the top of Group A even tighter. Indonesia holds one game in hand compared to Singapore and has the opportunity to take over the top position.

Vietnam Held In Third Place

Meanwhile, Vietnam sits in third place with four points from two matches.

The host side failed to take advantage of public support at My Dinh National Stadium after they could not break down Singapore's defence throughout the entire match.

Despite only picking up a draw, Vietnam - who trail Indonesia by two points - still have an open chance to advance to the semi-finals.

Cambodia occupies fourth place with zero points from two matches. Timor Leste sits at the bottom of the group after suffering three consecutive defeats with a goal difference of minus 12.
