Thailand's national football team demonstrated their status as one of the 2026 AFF Cup title favourites after defeating Malaysia 2-0 in their Group B fixture. With the additional three points, Thailand now holds six points from two matches played.

Following their defeat to Thailand, Malaysia remains in second place with a total of six points.

The Philippines have not surrendered in the race for a semi-final spot. The Azkals secured their first win of the tournament after dismantling Laos with a dominant 4-1 scoreline.

This victory moved the Philippines up to fourth place in the provisional standings, with three points from two matches and an even goal difference.

With two matches still remaining on their schedule, the Philippines still have an open chance to break into the top two positions.

Meanwhile, Laos continue to slump at the very bottom of the Group B standings. Their loss against the Philippines marks their third straight defeat of the entire tournament.
