The Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), offers ngabuburide, a blend of ngabuburit and riding during Ramadhan. Residents and tourists can experience driving on the race track located in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone.
This 4.3-kilometer circuit with 17 corners is best known as the annual stage for MotoGP. However, during Ramadan, the atmosphere is different.
Green hills and Pasir Putih (White Sand) surround the track, creating a landscape rarely found in other racing circuits worldwide. This is where Mandalika finds its identity as a Sport Tourism destination, with the circuit harmoniously integrated with tropical natural beauty.

President Director of Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Priandhi Satria, emphasized that this circuit is not just for racing.
“We present this Ramadan promotion so the community can experience the Mandalika Circuit more affordably during Ramadan, without reducing service quality. We hope this activity can be a positive choice during the holy month,” he said.
This statement marks its transformation from an exclusive arena into a space for social and economic interaction.
More Accessible Prices, World-Class Experience Remains
During the Ramadan period, MGPA is offering a special program with more friendly rates. Lampaq Circuit activities are offered at Rp50,000 per person, down from the normal price of Rp75,000. This activity runs every Weekend from 06:00-09:00 AM local time and 05:00–06:00 PM local time.
Taxi Ride is priced at Rp400,000 for two laps, while the CBR 250 Experience is Rp400,000 for three laps. For communities, Track Experience is available with a 15 percent discount.
Sport Tourism Boosts Local Economy
The ngabuburide program addresses Mandalika's significant challenge: maintaining visitor traffic outside the racing calendar.
Residents, who initially came only seeking takjil (breaking-fast meals), now have a unique public space alternative. The effect is felt by restaurants, cafes, hotels, and MSME bazaars around the area.
Many visitors extend their driving experience by breaking their fast in the area surrounding the circuit.
“Residents or tourists should maximize that experience to visit the Mandalika Circuit to enjoy facilities like lampaq, drive there, whether by car or motorcycle,” said Riyan, a visitor.
The development of the Mandalika SEZ was designed from the outset to drive economic growth in Central Lombok and NTB broadly.
Grand infrastructure without local community involvement loses its meaning.
Ngabuburide shows How modern public spaces can be integrated with religious values. Ramadan becomes a momentum to strengthen social and economic solidarity.
