For travelers, possessing a powerful passport is like holding the key to the world. The more countries they can visit visa-free, the freer their footsteps. In 2025, Singapore reclaims its pinnacle of glory.
For the second time, Singapore's passport ranks as the world's strongest. Travelers holding Singaporean passports can 'freely' roam anywhere.
This data was revealed by the Henley Passport Index on October 14, 2025. A major surprise in this year's report: for the first time, the United States (US) passport did not make the top 10 strongest passports globally.

According to its official website, the Henley Passport Index compares visa-free access from 199 different passports to 227 travel destinations.
If no visa is required, a score of 1 is assigned. The same applies if travelers can obtain a visa on arrival (VOA), visitor permit, or electronic travel authorization (ETA) upon entry.
Conversely, if a visa is required or if passport holders must obtain an electronic visa (e-Visa) before departure, a score of 0 is given. This also applies if pre-departure government approval is needed for a VOA. The total score equals the number of visa-free destinations.
Singapore's dominance is confirmed by other indexes too.
In 2025, Singapore scored 91.27 out of 100 on the VisaGuide Passport Index 2025.
Singapore enjoys visa-free access to 193 out of 227 global destinations—the highest of any nation.
This places Singapore among Asia's top three countries with the broadest travel access. South Korea ranks second with visa-free access to 190 destinations, followed by Japan in third with 189.

What about Indonesia?
In 2024, Indonesia's passport ranked 66th. By 2025, it fell to 70th place. Indonesian passport holders can visit 73 global destinations.
Though far below neighbors like Singapore or Malaysia, this data remains significant. It reflects not just passport strength, but how diplomacy, international cooperation, and reciprocal policies shape a nation's mobility freedom.
Amid global competition, a passport transcends mere travel documentation. It symbolizes reputation, trust, and global influence. This year, Singapore reaffirms its leadership.
