10 Best Airports in the World According to Skytrax 2026, Asia Dominates the List

Airports are no longer just transit points before continuing a flight. For many travellers, the experience inside an airport terminal has become a fundamental part of the journey. Fast immigration processing, family-friendly facilities, dining options, and waiting area comfort are all key factors that determine passenger satisfaction.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards 2026 has once again published the list of the World's Top 10 Airports, compiled from global passenger satisfaction surveys.

Assessments cover multiple service aspects including cleanliness, service efficiency, transit comfort, family facilities, as well as the quality of on-site restaurants and shopping centres.

As reported by Dragonpass on Friday, 31 July 2026, airports from Asia dominate this prestigious list, occupying seven out of the ten top positions. Airports across the Asian region are recognised for consistently delivering comfortable travel experiences from the moment passengers step into the terminal.

This dominance demonstrates that many Asian airports do not only prioritise fast departure and arrival processes, but also intentionally design terminals for overall passenger comfort.

Singapore Changi Airport has retained its title as the world's best airport for the 14th time, additionally claiming awards for World's Best Airport Dining and World's Best Airport Immigration Service.

Built around the Garden City concept, Changi features iconic facilities including the 40-metre tall HSBC Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi, a dedicated Butterfly Garden, Singapore Food Street, and free inter-terminal Skytrain services.

Second place is awarded to Incheon International Airport, South Korea. This airport received the World's Most Family-Friendly Airport award, combining modern technology such as facial recognition Smart Pass and an Aviation AI Hub alongside varied immersive Korean cultural attractions.

Third position goes to Tokyo Haneda Airport, Japan. Its close proximity to central Tokyo remains one of its greatest core advantages.

Alongside its reputation for exceptional cleanliness and industry-leading on-time performance, Haneda provides 24-hour dining services and a full range of rest facilities from compact capsule hotels to dedicated pet accommodation.

Hong Kong International Airport climbs to fourth place following full implementation of its smart airport concept. This airport serves over 220 international destinations with around 1,100 daily flights, supported by multilingual frontline staff, premium shopping zones, and formal environmental sustainability programmes.

Fifth place belongs to Narita International Airport, Japan. This airport maintains its official 5-Star Airport certification. Warm staff hospitality, reliable baggage handling systems and comfortable transit facilities are its stand-out strengths.

In sixth position, Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is once again named the best airport in Europe. Terminal modernisation works and improved transit services have made passenger waiting times significantly more comfortable. Its Terminal 3 has also been awarded the title of best low-cost terminal worldwide.

Seventh place is held by Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Rome, Italy. This airport recorded the highest passenger satisfaction ratings across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, supported by fast biometric security screening and the largest on-site solar power plant of any European airport.

Istanbul Airport takes eighth position, after making a major jump up the Skytrax rankings. As Türkiye's largest airport, it operates with an integrated modern city concept, featuring extensive duty free areas, advanced logistics facilities, and large scale use of renewable energy.

Ninth place goes to Munich Airport, Germany. As the only certified 5-star airport in Europe, Munich offers a modern Satellite Terminal with five exclusive lounges, full natural lighting throughout public areas, and a traditional airport beer garden which acts as a unique tourist attraction.

Completing the top 10 list is Vancouver International Airport, Canada. As the sole representative from the Americas, this airport creates a calm terminal atmosphere using noise-dampening carpet, soft teal-toned interior design, and permanent cultural art exhibits from local First Nations communities.
