Indonesian passports provide greater ease for Indonesian Citizens (WNI) wishing to travel abroad throughout 2026. This improved access is good news for Indonesian travellers planning international trips, whether for holidays, business travel, or family visits.
Based on the latest data from Visa Index and VisaGuide World, Indonesian passport holders can now access 88 countries and territories via visa-free schemes, Visa on Arrival (VoA), or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Visa-free status does not always mean travellers can enter the destination country immediately with no additional procedures. A number of countries still require Indonesian citizens to process a Visa on Arrival (VoA) upon arrival at the airport, or submit an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) online prior to departure.

List of Visa-Free Countries for Indonesian Citizens
Under the Visa Free category, 50 countries and territories allow Indonesian passport holders entry without applying for a visa in advance. Travellers only need to carry their passport, while still adhering to the maximum permitted length of stay and allowed visit purposes as regulated by each individual country.
In the Asian region, countries offering visa-free access include Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Iran, Kazakhstan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Palestine, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
Meanwhile in Europe, this applies to Belarus and Serbia. For South America, Indonesian citizens may travel visa-free to Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.
For the North America and Caribbean region, the same facility is available in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, Dominica, Guyana, Haiti, Micronesia, as well as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
In Oceania, countries and territories offering visa-free entry include the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Micronesia, Niue, Samoa, and Timor-Leste. While in Africa, this covers Angola, Gambia, Mali, Morocco, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, and Tunisia.
Countries Offering Visa on Arrival
Aside from visa-free entry, 27 countries implement the Visa on Arrival (VoA) system for Indonesian passport holders. Under this scheme, the visa is issued after the traveller arrives in the destination country.
Standard general requirements for VoA usually include a passport with minimum 6 months remaining validity, proof of accommodation or a local sponsor, sufficient travel funds, and return or onward flight tickets.
Countries offering VoA for Indonesian citizens are spread across all regions, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Russia, Ukraine, Bolivia, Cuba, Nicaragua, Palau, Tuvalu, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Burundi, Djibouti, Cape Verde, Comoros, Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
Five Countries Implement Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
Meanwhile, five countries apply the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system for Indonesian citizens. Unlike VoA, an eTA must be submitted online before departure, and travellers must receive official approval prior to travelling.
These five countries are Japan, Kenya, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Seychelles, and Côte d'Ivoire.
Always Verify Updated Regulations Before Travelling
While international travel access for Indonesian passport holders continues to expand, travellers are still strongly advised to check the latest immigration regulations before embarking on any trip.
Rules regarding visa-free entry, Visa on Arrival fees, and eTA application requirements may be changed at any time in accordance with each country's official policies.
For this reason, Indonesian citizens should always obtain the latest official information from the official website of the destination country's embassy or immigration authority, to ensure their trip proceeds smoothly without issues.
