Batu City once again greets tourists with vibrant festivities. That Sunday morning, Panglima Sudirman Street transformed into a sea of flowers and traditional fabrics during the Batu Art Flower Carnival 2025. Costumes adorned with ornamental flowers, echoing traditional music, and dancers’ smiles blended into a harmonious fusion of Batu City's nature and culture.

Carrying the theme "The Charm of Harmony Between Nature and Culture of Batu Sae City," this carnival serves as Batu City Government's creative approach to showcase the natural and cultural wealth of this cool-climate region at the foot of Mount Panderman.

"Through this event, we introduce the natural potential and unique cultural heritage of every area in Batu City," stated Batu City Tourism Department Head Onny Ardiansyah in Batu, East Java.

Meaningful Celebration for Batu City's Anniversary

Held to commemorate Batu City's 24th anniversary, this carnival is not merely a floral festival but a symbol of citizens' spirit to continually develop local tourism potential.

The government targets 11.5 million tourist visits in 2025, increasing from 10.8 million in the previous year.

With this ambitious target, the Batu Art Flower Carnival becomes a new magnet captivating visitors.

Rows of ornamental flowers and contingent costume creations presented scenery rivaling the beauty of tourist gardens scattered across the city.

"Organizing this event as part of Batu City's 24th anniversary celebrations aims to boost appeal and promote local tourism," said Onny.

Boundless Creativity from 67 Contingents

This year, 67 contingents participated in enlivening the event. They represented regional apparatus organizations (OPD), village and district governments, as well as private institutions.

Even guests from outside regions like Malang City, Sumenep Regency, and Pasuruan City attended this colorful celebration.

"Each contingent demonstrated diverse creativity through their costumes by combining traditional attire with colorful ornamental flower decorations," explained Onny.

Ornamental flowers truly embody Batu City's main icon. From flower gardens stretching across mountain slopes, inspiration emerges for local designers to create spectacular outfits.

Beyond visual elements, each participant's step was accompanied by traditional art performances, making the carnival atmosphere increasingly lively and vibrant.

"We hope this further enhances the creativity of our cultural and artistic practitioners," Onny added.

From Carnival to Tourism Awards

Outstanding works in this carnival will be recognized through the Batu Tourism Awards.

"Every contingent's creativity is evaluated by judges, and winners will be announced at the Batu Tourism Award. Only four champions will be selected: first, second, third, and fourth place," he concluded.

More than just a competition, the Batu Art Flower Carnival reflects citizens' spirit in maintaining harmony between nature and culture.

The blooming flowers in this city are not merely beauty, but symbols of creativity growing alongside its people.

For tourists visiting Batu, this carnival reaffirms one thing: Batu City never loses its charm. From flower gardens to natural and cultural attractions, everything blends in a friendly and colorful ambiance. (Antara)
