At the eastern tip of Java Island, Banyuwangi is no longer just a stopover point to Bali. In recent years, this area has transformed into a Tourist Destination with a strong identity.
Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Banyuwangi shows this direction becoming increasingly evident. In 2025, the region's economic growth reached 5.65 percent, reflecting positive dynamics across various sectors.
"In 2025, Banyuwangi's economy grew well, supported by expansion in all Business sectors," said Abdus Salam, Head of Banyuwangi's Central Statistics Agency, in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Thursday.

Yet among these sectors, Tourism emerged as the strongest pulse. Its growth reached 8.64 percent, making it the highest-performing sector that year.
Abdus explained this surge stems from increased Tourist Visits, both domestic and international.
In Banyuwangi, Travel isn't merely an activity but an experience connecting people with nature and local communities.
"Subsequently, the transportation service sector rose 8.4 percent due to increased mobility across Trains, buses, and airplanes," he stated.
This mobility boost widens access to Banyuwangi's destinations, from white-sand beaches to misty mountains.
Each journey becomes part of an interconnected ecosystem, reinforcing Tourism's role as the economic backbone.
Nevertheless, Banyuwangi hasn't abandoned its economic roots. Agriculture remains a vital foundation alongside trade and construction, structurally supporting growth.
"Structurally, agriculture still contributed highest to Banyuwangi's economy with 4.36 percent growth from last year. One indicator: milled dry paddy production rose 15.83 percent year-on-year," Abdus noted.
This balance between tradition and innovation makes Banyuwangi unique. Tourism doesn't stand alone but evolves alongside other sectors.
Investment follows this trajectory. Both foreign and domestic capital inflows increased, strengthening tourism-supporting infrastructure and services.
"In 2025, no employment sector contracted in Banyuwangi—all expanded," Abdus concluded.
