China's Tourism Industry is preparing to enter a new phase after Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) officially commenced production of its electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft named AirCab. The arrival of this futuristic aerial vehicle is projected to open up entirely new Travel experiences, particularly for Aerial Tourism services.
GAC has long been established as one of China's automotive giants. The company has now expanded its Business into the aerial mobility sector under the Govy brand, launching AirCab as a commercial Flying Taxi.
This development signals deepening integration between the Tourism sector and advanced technology. Future travellers may be able to enjoy short-range Air Travel with spectacular panoramic views, without relying on conventional helicopters.

Initial production of AirCab is capped at approximately 100 units per year. While this volume is modest, it is deemed sufficient to test China's fast-growing Premium Tourism market.
The aircraft has already secured all required certifications for commercial operation, and has successfully completed full crash testing protocols.
In terms of design, AirCab is built using carbon fibre composite materials. The airframe features six arms extending outwards from the cabin, each fitted with a pair of propellers to generate lift for vertical takeoff and landing.
While full technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, GAC previously confirmed AirCab uses high-density cylindrical batteries that achieve full charge in only around 25 minutes. This technology is a key advantage to support high-frequency operation for aerial Tourism services.
The aircraft's maximum flight range has also not been published in full detail. However, AirCab is confirmed to be primarily designed for short sightseeing flights.
Unlike many other eVTOL developers targeting mass urban transport, GAC has adopted a highly focused go-to-market strategy, identifying tourism as the most viable early adopter segment for AirCab.
For the initial launch phase, the company expects the aircraft will be operated by tourism providers offering aerial sightseeing services. This approach is considered more realistic, as travellers are typically highly receptive to novel experiences that combine cutting-edge technology and recreation.
GAC conducted a series of public demonstration flights last year across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. These trials showcased How AirCab can deliver entirely new perspectives for experiencing Tourist Destinations from the air.
One of AirCab's most revolutionary features is its Level 4 autonomous flight capability. This technology enables the aircraft to conduct full flight operations and navigation completely independently, with no on-board pilot required.
This capability is projected to reduce operational costs and improve service efficiency for aerial tourism long term. Aviation regulators will nevertheless maintain strict ongoing oversight, as safety remains the absolute non-negotiable priority for this technology.
AirCab is positioned explicitly for the premium market. This Flying Taxi carries a starting price tag of 1.68 million Yuan, or approximately 4.5 billion Indonesian Rupiah per unit. Given this capital investment, tourism services operating AirCab are expected to offer exclusive premium pricing for passengers.
The arrival of AirCab demonstrates that the future of tourism will not only be defined by new destinations, but also entirely new ways to experience travel.
