Latest BWF Rankings: Jonatan Christie Overtakes Antonsen, Ubad Breaks Into the Top 25

Good news comes from Indonesia's men's singles sector in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) ranking update for the 31st week. Jonatan Christie has entered the world top 3, while young talent Moh Zaki Ubaidillah climbed to 25th position in the global rankings.

In the latest ranking list, Jonatan moved up one rank to 3rd place worldwide with a total of 89,231 points. The 28-year-old shuttler overtook Denmark's Anders Antonsen, who dropped down to 4th position with 87,705 points.

Jonatan's ranking improvement follows his performance at the 2026 China Open. Even though his campaign ended at the quarter-final stage, this result was sufficient to push his position back into the world top 3 ranks.

At present, he only sits behind China's Shi Yu Qi at the top position with 94,255 points, and Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn in 2nd place with 91,215 points.

France's Christo Popov remained unchanged at 5th position with 87,002 points. 2026 China Open champion Chou Tien Chen stayed steady at 6th rank with 84,280 points.

Victor Lai, who ended Jonatan's run at the China Open, became one of the players with the most significant ranking progress.

He climbed to 7th place worldwide with 77,045 points after successfully advancing to the China Open semi-finals.

Li Shi Feng dropped down to 8th position, while Alex Lanier remained at 9th and Kodai Naraoka completed the world top 10 list.

Outside this elite group, Alwi Farhan still holds 11th place globally with 69,419 points. The 21-year-old shuttler is only 611 points behind Naraoka in 10th position.

Alwi failed to re-enter the top 10 after being eliminated in the first round of the China Open, following his defeat against India's Ayush Shetty. Previously, Alwi had briefly occupied 10th place after winning the 2026 Australian Open.

Another encouraging development also comes from Moh Zaki Ubaidillah. The 19-year-old shuttler moved up one rank to 25th position worldwide with 46,291 points.

Ubed's ranking jump came from his impressive performance at the 2026 Japan Open. On his debut at this Super 750 tournament, he advanced all the way to the round of 16, before he did not compete at the China Open.

Ubed has the opportunity to earn additional points at the 2026 Taipei Open Super 300 tournament, held from 28 July to 2 August. This tournament will be Ubed's chance to close the gap towards the world top 20 ranks.
