Sakura Matsuri 2026 Is Not Just About Cosplay and Japanese Cuisine

Sakura Matsuri 2026 does not only offer Japanese-themed entertainment. This festival, held at Hollywood Junction, Jababeka City, Cikarang, Bekasi on 25-26 July 2026, also functions as a space for cultural exchange, education, tourism, and economic collaboration between Indonesia and Japan.

This festival, a collaboration between Jababeka and the Indonesia Japan Alumni Community (KAJI), brings the "Little Japan" concept to Indonesia, integrating arts, culinary experiences, education, community engagement, and various interactive activities.

"Sakura Matsuri is not just an entertainment festival. It is also a tangible form of our commitment to strengthening relations between Indonesia and Japan through culture, education, tourism, and economic cooperation," stated Ivonne Anggraini, Director of PT Graha Buana Cikarang, in an official statement released in Jakarta on Thursday.

Throughout the two-day event, visitors can watch Japanese art and cultural performances, participate in cosplay competitions, sample both Japanese and Indonesian local cuisine, and interact with various community groups.

The festival atmosphere will be enlivened by performances from JKT48, DIA, and multiple Japanese cultural communities.

The appeal of Sakura Matsuri 2026 extends far beyond the entertainment stage. The festival will also host talk shows and workshops covering study opportunities, internships, employment, and building professional careers in Japan.

Lucky attendees will have the chance to receive scholarships for advanced Japanese language proficiency training.

Alongside educational programmes, social initiatives are also included in the festival through a blood donation drive, organised as an act of public solidarity and care.

"We hope Sakura Matsuri will continue to grow into an international-standard cultural event that delivers tangible benefits for the public, drives tourism and creative economy growth, and further strengthens Jababeka City's position as an Industrial Tourism Destination," Ivonne added.

KAJI Chairman Fuad A. Kadir stated that Sakura Matsuri has developed into a collaborative platform that connects Indonesian and Japanese communities across multiple sectors.

"This year we are presenting even more educational programmes, ranging from talk shows and workshops to complete information regarding study, internship and career opportunities in Japan. We hope that young Indonesians will not only learn about Japanese culture, but also gain inspiration and insight to develop their competencies at a global level," Fuad explained.

Beyond its cultural and educational benefits, Sakura Matsuri 2026 will also generate positive impact for the local economy. The arrival of tens of thousands of visitors will boost business activity for MSME operators, food tenants, transportation services, accommodation providers, and the entire creative economy sector across Bekasi Regency.
