Jakarta – The Indonesian contingent has officially begun its campaign at Asia's largest beach Sports Event, the Asian Beach Games 2026. A total of 22 of the nation's finest male and female athletes have arrived in Sanya, Hainan Province, China, to compete in the sports festival Running from April 22 to 30, 2026.
Indonesia is participating in three flagship sports projected to contribute medals: 3x3 Basketball (8 athletes), Beach Volleyball (6 athletes), and Sport Climbing (8 athletes).
Senior-Junior Combination and Olympic Strength
This athlete deployment strategy combines ANTARA senior player experience with young talent energy. In 3x3 basketball, stars like Ebrahim Lopez Enguio and Kimberley Pierre-Louis will mentor promising young players such as Halmaheranno Aprianto and Angelica Jennifer Candra.

Meanwhile, sport climbing takes center stage with the presence of Olympic athlete and women's speed climbing gold medalist at the 2026 Asian Championships, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi. Her participation is expected to motivate young stars like Kadek Adi Asih to hoist the Red and White flag on the highest podium.
Field Challenges and Asian Competition
Over 40 member nations of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) are participating in Sanya's Asian Beach Games 2026. Beyond facing formidable opponents like host China and Japan, Indonesian athletes must adapt to Hainan's high humidity and challenging coastal winds. Medical teams and officials have implemented rapid recovery programs to maintain athlete fitness during the packed Match Schedule and China's dynamic tropical weather.
Mature Preparation and Strict Selection
Indonesian Chef de Mission Krisna Bayu confirmed all dispatched athletes underwent rigorous selection based on performance metrics and available budget support.
"We hope both experienced and young athletes can perform optimally. Our target is to see the Red and White flag fly and hear Indonesia Raya resonate across Asia," stated Krisna Bayu as quoted by ANTARA on 22/4/2026.
