John Herdman Selects 50 Players for the 2026 ASEAN Championship
Indonesia attempted to take control of the match right from kick-off. However, poor finishing became the main barrier for the Garuda squad to open a lead.
Timor Leste was reduced to 10 players from the 21st minute. Jackson Flower received his second yellow card after committing a foul against Thom Haye.
Even with the numerical advantage, Indonesia was still unable to capitalize on their created chances.
Timor Leste's compact defensive line and goalkeeper Dylan Jose's sharp performance made it very difficult for Indonesia to break the deadlock.
Despite generating a number of dangerous attacking opportunities, Indonesia had to settle for a goalless scoreline going into the half-time break.
Indonesia Turned On The Pressure In The Second Half
John Herdman rolled out multiple substitutions at the start of the second half. The English head coach brought on Ragnar Oratmangoen, Egy Maulana Vikri, Sandy Walsh, Shayne Pattynama and Dony Tri Pamungkas to shift the match momentum.
Indonesia finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. Shayne Pattynama put Garuda ahead after converting a cross from Dony Tri Pamungkas.
Just two minutes later, Thom Haye doubled Indonesia's advantage with a free kick that curled perfectly into the top right corner of Dylan Jose's goal.
Indonesia did not stop their attacking push. Three minutes after Haye's goal, Mitchell Baker also registered his name on the scoresheet.
The young Indonesian striker finished off a low through pass from Ragnar Oratmangoen to extend Indonesia's lead to 3-0.
This lead remained unchanged until the final whistle was blown.
With the additional three points secured from this 3-0 win over Timor Leste, Indonesia now holds 6 points from two matches played.
This result elevated the Garuda squad to the top of the provisional Group A standings.
