PBSI Conducts Full Evaluation of the Mixed Doubles Division, New Coach Will Be Announced in August

The Central Executive Board of the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PP PBSI) has entered a new phase for the development of its mixed doubles sector. The official national federation has formally terminated its working partnership with Mixed Doubles Head Coach Rionny Mainaky and Assistant Coach Amon Sunaryo as part of a comprehensive internal evaluation.

While awaiting the appointment of the new head coach, PBSI has decided to merge training programmes for the main elite and junior development squads to ensure the athlete development process continues without disruption.

"This coaching change is not decided solely based on short-term match results. We conducted a full end-to-end evaluation of the entire development system: from athlete progression, training programme effectiveness, pair dynamics, right through to this sector's overall readiness to meet our major upcoming targets," stated Eng Hian, Head of Athlete Development and Achievement at PP PBSI, in his official statement.

He confirmed that this decision was made in reference to the performance targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) previously established by PBSI.

"We strictly reference our agreed targets and KPIs. Based on the evaluation findings, we concluded a refresh of the coaching line-up is necessary to bring new perspectives to the mixed doubles sector, support sustainable growth, and enable this division to deliver more optimal competitive results," he added.

PBSI Recognises Rionny and Amon's Dedication

Alongside this coaching restructure decision, PBSI formally appreciates all contributions Rionny Mainaky and Amon Sunaryo have given during their tenure leading athletes at the national training camp.

Eng Hian stated that both coaches have delivered invaluable contributions to the development of Indonesia's mixed doubles programme.

"Their work has formed an important part of this national athlete development journey. We wish them all the very best and every success in their future careers," said Eng Hian.

New Coach Selection Process Remains Ongoing

PBSI is currently progressing the search for the new mixed doubles head coach. The selection process is still running through official internal federation stages.

Eng Hian confirmed that an official announcement will only be published once all selection procedures have been fully completed.

"However, the appointment process is still ongoing, and must pass through the internal procedural stages that we are currently finalising. We will ensure every step of this process is completed properly before any official public announcement is made," Eng Hian explained.

PBSI is scheduled to announce the appointed new mixed doubles head coach in August this year.

With this refresh of the coaching structure, PBSI expects the mixed doubles sector will return to positive growth, produce internationally competitive pairs, and continue elevating Indonesia's achievements at the world stage.
