The usually quiet sky of Ponorogo transformed into a giant canvas, adorned with dozens of colorful hot air balloons. This long-standing tradition was repackaged as a safe, Tourism-worthy spectacle titled Reyog Balloon Carnival (RBC) 2026.
Held at Jenangan District's motocross circuit, the festival aims to convert the practice of launching illegal balloons into responsible activities.
"We organized this festival to safely and controllably accommodate the public’s hobby of flying hot air balloons," stated Ponorogo Police Chief AKBP Andin Wisnu Sudibyo.

This approach offers visitors a unique experience. They can observe balloons up close, appreciate design details, and immerse in the festival atmosphere without the usual risks tied to illegal balloon traditions.
Forty-four participants from various regions showcased diverse visual interpretations, from classic forms to experimental creations.
Creativity became essential, with judges evaluating not just flight capability but also design uniqueness.
"We’ll elevate this into a local-to-national event," AKBP Andin affirmed.
Local government support solidifies the festival’s position as an embryonic Tourist Destination in East Java.
Acting Ponorogo Regent Lisdyarita recognized immense potential behind the vibrant sky.
Beyond seasonal entertainment, it serves as a strategy to maintain tradition’s relevance in the modern era.
