Indonesian Women's Doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari secured their spot in the Quarter Finals of the All England 2026 after a hard-fought three-game battle in the Round of 16 at Utilita Arena Birmingham.

The pair, affectionately known as Ana/Trias, defeated Japan's Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi with a score of 21-11, 18-21, 21-17 in a match demanding endurance, focus, and the ability to read the opponents' changing rhythm.

This victory completed the list of six Indonesian representatives advancing to the quarter finals of the world's oldest Badminton Tournament.

“Praise God, we played quite well today. The strategies we prepared ran smoothly,” said Ana in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) on Friday.

Ana acknowledged they actually had a chance to close the match quicker. However, a loss of focus in the closing stages of the second game allowed the Japanese pair to force a deciding third game.

“There was indeed an opportunity to win in straight games, but near the end of the second game the points were tight, so our focus dipped a bit and we ended up rushing to finish points,” she said.

The match momentum shifted in the third game when Ana/Trias started playing the tempo more flexibly.

They not only matched their opponents' speed but also occasionally slowed down the rhythm to disrupt the Japanese pair's concentration.

Febriana explained that this change in tempo was key to regaining control of the game.

“The opponents tried to speed up the tempo, which we anticipated. We sometimes matched their pace, but other times we slowed the game down. That's what allowed us to keep applying pressure,” she said.

Meanwhile, Trias emphasized the importance of maintaining focus in the deciding game without dwelling on past mistakes or the score pressure.

“In the third game, we refocused. We didn't think about what had already happened or the points. We just focused on the game,” said Trias.

Besides Ana/Trias, several other Indonesian representatives advanced to the All England 2026 quarter finals: Alwi Farhan in men's singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani in Women's Singles, men's doubles pairs Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat and Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, as well as mixed doubles pair Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.

This success underscores the depth of the Indonesian squad at this prestigious tournament and opens the opportunity to bring home the title from Birmingham.
