Wimbledon 2026 delivers a historic moment in the women's singles draw. For the first time in Grand Slam tournament history, two Czech Republic players will face each other in the final match, after Karolina Muchova joined Linda Noskova in securing a spot in the title decider.

This all-Czech showdown also brings an end to the long wait for an all-national Grand Slam final. The last time this occurred was at the 2017 US Open, when American players Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys met in the tournament final.

Muchova booked her place in the final after a grueling battle against Coco Gauff on Centre Court, Thursday evening WIB. The 29-year-old claimed a 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (12-10) victory after 158 minutes of play.

After both players traded dominant sets across the opening two frames, the match reached its climax in the deciding third set.

Muchova had built a 5-4 lead and held match point, before Gauff fought back to force a tiebreak as the score leveled at 6-6.

In the tiebreak, Muchova once again pulled ahead to 6-3, only for Gauff to turn the tide and lead 9-8. Despite facing mounting pressure, the Czech player eventually closed out the win with a 12-10 tiebreak score.

"Honestly, that was just an incredible match. It felt like riding a roller coaster, the momentum shifted constantly. One second I had match point, then suddenly I was the one facing match point against me. Everything happened so fast there was no time to even think," Muchova said after the match, as quoted by Sky Sports.

This 2026 Wimbledon final marks Muchova's second Grand Slam final appearance, following her run to the title match at the 2023 French Open where she was defeated by Iga Swiatek.

Meanwhile, Linda Noskova put on an impressive performance to defeat Marta Kostyuk in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, wrapping up the match in 81 minutes.

Noskova converted three break points on her opponent's serve, while only dropping her own service game once throughout the entire match.

This is the first Grand Slam final of Noskova's professional career. Despite having no prior experience in a major tournament title match, the young player remains full of confidence.

"I just tried to stay patient and keep calm the whole match. Somehow, I managed to close out that final point. For me, the most important thing is to stay focused on my own game and not get distracted by anything else," Noskova stated.

Muchova and Noskova are already well acquainted with one another. The pair previously represented the Czech Republic together in the women's doubles event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they advanced to the semi-final round.

The 2026 Wimbledon final opens the chance for the fifth Czech women's singles champion in the tournament's history.

This feat was previously achieved by Jana Novotna (1998), Petra Kvitova (2011 and 2014), Marketa Vondrousova (2023), and Barbora Krejcikova (2024).

Next, either Muchova or Noskova will add another chapter to the Czech Republic's long legacy of tennis success on the grass courts of the All England Club.
