France secured their spot as the first team to progress to the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals after beating Morocco 2-0 in the quarter-final fixture at Boston Stadium, early Friday WIB. Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé were the standout performers behind Les Bleus' victory.

Despite winning by a two-goal margin, France had to battle hard to break down the Atlas Lions' compact defence. An excellent display from goalkeeper Yassine Bono left Les Bleus unable to find the net throughout the entire first half.

France created their first opening when Mbappé received a pass from Desire Doue. The Real Madrid forward struck powerfully on goal, only for Bono to pull off a fine save.

Moments later, Bono showed his quality once again, this time tipping away Dayot Upamecano's header from a corner kick.

France were awarded a golden chance to break the deadlock when the referee pointed to the penalty spot after Mbappé was fouled inside the area. However, the French captain's spot kick was correctly read and saved by Bono.

France maintained their dominance. In the 36th minute, Bono produced another stop to deny Desire Doue's effort.

Just before half-time, Lucas Digne came within inches of putting Les Bleus ahead with an speculative long-range strike from outside the box. The ball crashed against the crossbar, leaving the first half deadlocked at 0-0.

At the opposite end, Morocco struggled to build any cohesive attacking play. Mohamed Ouahbi's side operated almost exclusively in a defensive shape, failing to register a single shot on target during the first 45 minutes.

Following the restart, Morocco adopted a more aggressive approach and raised their attacking intensity. Even so, it was France who finally broke through.

In the 60th minute, Mbappé curled a precise finish into the top right corner of the goal, well out of Bono's reach, to put France 1-0 ahead.

Only six minutes later, Dembélé doubled the lead to 2-0 with an accurate placed strike into the far right corner of Morocco's net.

Facing a two-goal deficit, Morocco pushed for a way back into the match. Their clearest opportunity came in the 83rd minute when Azzedine Ounahi fired an effort from outside the penalty area, but Mike Maignan reacted sharply to claim the ball safely.

The 2-0 scoreline remained unchanged until the full time whistle sounded.

This victory books France's place in the 2026 World Cup semi-finals, and keeps Les Bleus' dream of winning a third world championship title alive.

Meanwhile, Morocco exit the tournament after an impressive run, becoming the first team eliminated at the quarter-final stage.
