Efforts to expand the bridge between the United States and bali are intensifying. The U.S. Embassy is committed to facilitating travel for its citizens to Bali, including exploring communication with airlines to open more convenient access.
"We are happy to communicate with U.S. companies and different airlines to make travel easier, given the long distance. We are very interested in helping as many U.S. citizens come to Bali as easily as possible," stated Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the U.S. Embassy, Peter M Haymond, at Jimbaran Hub, Badung Regency, Bali, on Wednesday.
This statement marks a new approach in Tourism diplomacy, promoting air connectivity as key to increasing tourist visits from the United States.

Push for Direct Flights
One option under consideration is establishing direct flights or increasing flight frequency from various international hub cities.
"We will do our best to support that," he said.
Currently, no direct flights exist from Bali to the United States. U.S. tourists must still transit at least once through cities like Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Doha, or Dubai before reaching the Island of the Gods.
For long-haul travelers, accessibility is a decisive factor in destination choice. With travel times exceeding 20 hours, direct routes are expected to significantly catalyze tourism growth.
High-Value Tourists
The senior diplomat emphasized that U.S. tourists are high-spending visitors.
In 2025, their expenditures in Bali are projected to reach $330 million USD (approximately Rp5.54 trillion, assuming 1 USD = Rp16,800), boosting the local economy.
According to Bali Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data, U.S. tourist arrivals to Bali reached 274,000 in 2025, ranking seventh among foreign tourist visits. This reflects a 4.88% increase from 2024's 261,000 arrivals.
These figures indicate positive trends and expandable market potential, especially if connectivity barriers are reduced.
"They come to witness the beauty of Balinese culture and rich traditions. They represent Americans Traveling abroad who want to see world-renowned destinations like Bali," he explained.
Diplomacy and Cultural Appeal
Bali has long symbolized tropical exoticism, blending terraced rice landscapes with dramatic coastlines. For American tourists, a Bali trip transcends typical vacations—it's an authentic cultural exploration.
With diplomatic support and improved connectivity potential, Bali can strengthen its position as a premier long-haul destination.
The U.S. Embassy's initiative represents a strategic step toward easier access to the Island of the Gods.
