The Indonesian national tennis team delivered a convincing performance in the SEA Games 2025 Thailand quarterfinals. Competing on Monday, December 15, 2025, Indonesia's singles stars Janice Tjen and Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi smoothly advanced to the semifinals, keeping Indonesia's gold medal hopes alive.

Indonesian men's tennis team coach Suharyadi assessed his players were in optimal condition during this crucial tournament phase. He stated both Janice and Rifqi controlled their matches without significant obstacles.

"Today in singles, Rifqi and Janice were clearly a class above with no issues," Suharyadi said via text message.

However, Suharyadi cautioned that the real challenge would come in the semifinals. Opponent quality and Thailand's home advantage require thorough anticipation.

"We must be wary during the semifinals since Thai players are skilled and the home-court factor will create intense matches. I hope our players are prepared."

At Nonthaburi's National Tennis Development Center, Janice Tjen displayed solid form against Philippines' Alexa Joy Milliam. The Jakarta-born player won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, demonstrating consistent play from baseline to net.

Janice benefited from a bye in the round of 16. Her status as a top seed alongside world No. 52 Alex Eala of the Philippines confirms her position as a favorite in the women's singles. Ranked world No. 53, Janice's match maturity is considered her key advantage in knockout stages.

Meanwhile, in men's singles, Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi showed total dominance. The SEA Games 2023 Cambodia gold medalist overpowered Singapore's Michael Dylan Sucgang Jimenez 6-3, 6-0. Rifqi played aggressively from the start, leaving no room for his opponent.

Impressive performances also came from mixed doubles. Indonesia's star pair Aldila Sutjiadi and Christopher Rungkat reaffirmed their class as SEA Games hattrick gold winners, defeating Vietnam's Nguyen Savanna Ly/Van Phuong Nguyen 6-2, 6-2 in a one-sided match.

"Similarly, our mixed pair Dilla-Christo dominated today. We must prepare for Thailand's team tomorrow, who possess nearly equal quality," said Suharyadi.

These results solidify Indonesia's strength in key SEA Games 2025 tennis events. However, the semifinals are predicted to be the true test, especially against technically skilled home athletes backed by public support.

Janice Tjen is scheduled for her women's singles semifinal on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi will compete in the men's singles semifinal on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, alongside Aldila Sutjiadi/Christopher Rungkat in mixed doubles. These three events represent Indonesia's major medal hopes.
