The success of the Indonesian men's and women's tennis teams in winning gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games marks an important milestone in the revival of national tennis. Sweeping both golds in the team events is not merely an achievement in results, but also a reflection of collective strength and a development direction that is starting to show consistency at the regional level.

Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Tennis Association (PP Pelti), Nurdin Halid, considers this achievement a strategic accomplishment that holds meaning beyond just the podium. According to him, Indonesia's domination in the team events demonstrates the team's solidity and the depth of athlete quality built through a long process.

"This is Indonesia's pride. This achievement proves that the national tennis development is on the right track," said Nurdin in a written statement received in Jakarta on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Nurdin emphasized that the success in sweeping the men's and women's team golds shows that Indonesia's tennis strength does not rely on one or two individuals, but rather the result of structured systemic work. Consistent development, continuity of competitions, and improvement in coach quality are considered the main factors behind this achievement.

Furthermore, this achievement has been widely welcomed as Indonesia's pride at the Southeast Asian level. Amid increasingly fierce competition, this result reinforces Indonesia's position as one of the regional tennis powers to be reckoned with.

Nurdin believes that the achievement at the 2025 SEA Games can be an important momentum to strengthen state support for achievement sports. He stressed that athlete achievements are not born instantly, but through a long process that requires the involvement of various parties.

"Athlete achievements are born from a long process. The state needs to be present through policies, financial support, and the provision of adequate facilities," he said.

According to Nurdin, synergy between the government, the federation, and sports stakeholders is key to creating a sustainable development ecosystem. Without strong structural support, achievement accomplishments risk being only temporary.

The success in winning two team golds also opens up great opportunities for Indonesia to perform more competitively at the Asian and world levels. Therefore, PP Pelti is committed to continue strengthening early age development, improving the quality of national competitions, and integrating sports science into athlete training programs.

"This achievement must become a foundation towards higher targets, not just a momentary accomplishment," said Nurdin.

He affirmed his commitment to continue driving the progress of national sports, especially tennis, both through his role as Chairman of PP Pelti and as Vice Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Policy support and strengthening the development structure are expected to accelerate the emergence of globally competitive athletes.

At the end of his statement, Nurdin hoped that the success of the Indonesian tennis team at the 2025 SEA Games could inspire the nation's youth to pursue sports seriously and achieve at the international level.

"These two team golds are the result of joint work and proof that Indonesia is able to compete honorably," said Nurdin.
