Bangkok has once again introduced a unique accommodation destination for travellers. This historic building, which originally functioned as the Customs House, has been converted into a luxury hotel. It is scheduled to begin operations on 20 December 2026, after officially opening reservations for guests.
This project demonstrates how historical heritage can be preserved while simultaneously being revived through modern hospitality concepts.
This iconic structure will become the centrepiece of The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok; a hotel that merges historical value with world-class facilities.

"For generations, the Custom House stood as Thailand's gateway to the world. We are proud to see it prepare to welcome the world once again as part of The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok," stated Bob van den Oord, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group, as quoted by Antara.
The Custom House was constructed in 1888 during the reign of King Rama V. For many years, this building served as Thailand's international trade gateway, before it was finally restored as part of the hotel development.
Developers retained the original historic structure to function as the hotel's public areas. Meanwhile, guest accommodation facilities were built within a separate adjacent new structure, designed to respect the original architectural heritage.
The hotel will offer 75 units in total, consisting of 60 guest rooms and 15 suites, designed by Thai architect Smith Obayawat.
The new building's design adopts curved forms inspired by the flow of the Chao Phraya River, creating a harmonious fusion between contemporary architecture and the historic landmark.
Distinct Thai cultural influences are woven into every corner of the interior. The property features geometric motifs drawn from traditional architecture, decorative lighting with royal symbolic themes, and design elements that reference the cultural period of King Rama V's reign.
Beyond accommodation, The Langham Custom House Bangkok will be equipped with spa facilities, a fitness centre and dining venues, with the restored historic building utilised as public space accessible to both hotel guests and general visitors.
The property is located in Bang Rak District, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. This strategic position allows travellers easy access to popular Bangkok destinations including Asiatique The Riverfront, ICONSIAM, Chinatown, and the creative Charoen Krung precinct.
This hotel further expands the premium accommodation options available in Bangkok, while also demonstrating how historic building preservation can operate in tandem with the development of the modern tourism industry.
