Indonesian women's tennis player Janice Tjen is set to make new history as she prepares for her debut appearance at Wimbledon 2026. Competing for the first time at the world's most prestigious grass-court Grand Slam, Janice stated she is proud to represent Indonesia on this international stage.

The Jakarta-born athlete will open her campaign at London's All England Club against Canada's 22nd seed Leylah Fernandez in a first round match scheduled for Monday evening WIB.

"It is very, very special to be playing at Wimbledon for the first time, and to be carrying Indonesia's name here at this tournament," Janice told the official Wimbledon website on Monday, 29 June 2026.

Janice Tjen Holds an Unbeaten Record Against Leylah Fernandez
This upcoming match will mark the third career meeting between the two players. Notably, Janice has emerged victorious in both of their previous encounters.

The first win came at the 2026 Australian Open first round, where Janice secured a 6-2, 7-6(1) victory. One month later, she defeated Fernandez once again at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a 7-6(5), 6-4 scoreline.

These results leave Janice with a perfect 2-0 head-to-head record against the 2021 US Open finalist.

While Fernandez currently sits at World No.24 and Janice is ranked 42nd in the WTA standings, this head-to-head statistic gives the Indonesian representative strong confidence heading into their Wimbledon clash.

Positive Momentum From Doubles Competition

Alongside her consistent form in singles, Janice has also enjoyed an impressive season in doubles.

Throughout 2026, she has already claimed two titles. Her first trophy came at the WTA 250 Hobart event, partnering Poland's Katarzyna Piter. Janice then followed this up with another championship win at the WTA 125 Birmingham tournament alongside Australian player Talia Gibson.

These achievements serve as valuable preparation for the high-pressure environment of Wimbledon, especially for a player making their debut at the event.

The upcoming match against Fernandez is expected to be tightly contested. Both previous meetings were hard-fought and featured tie-breaks, meaning this grass court clash at the All England Club is projected to be another closely fought battle.

Janice To Also Compete In Doubles With Aldila

Alongside her singles campaign, Janice will also enter the women's doubles draw alongside fellow Indonesian player Aldila Sutjiadi.

The Indonesian pairing are scheduled to face home favourites Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden in their Wimbledon first round match on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

Janice is looking to continue her positive run of form, having won the WTA 125 Suzhou in China and WTA 250 Chennai in India during the previous season.

A new challenge now awaits at Wimbledon. Backed by her perfect head-to-head record over Fernandez and her improving form throughout the season, Janice holds a real chance to pull off an upset on her grass court Grand Slam debut.
