Sassuolo has become one of the toughest teams to break down in Italy's Serie A. The duo of Jay Idzes and Tarik Muharemovic forms the foundation of I Neroverdi's resurgence this season, propelling the newly promoted team to competitive mid-table status in the Italian league.

Idzes arrived as a new signing from Venezia, replacing the previous combination of Muharemovic and Filippo Romagna from last season.

Coach Fabio Grosso didn't take long to recognize the potential of this new pairing, and the results were immediately evident.

New Duo, New Stability

For a promoted team, sitting eighth is an extraordinary achievement for Sassuolo.

They're not just surviving but competing effectively. I Neroverdi even outperform established names like Lazio, Udinese, and Atalanta thanks to a significantly more solid defensive structure.

In their 12 matches together, the Idzes-Muharemovic duo has recorded 6 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses.

The only other defeat occurred when Idzes was paired with Romagna, confirming how ideal the Idzes-Muharemovic partnership is for the team's defense.

Additionally, they've helped goalkeeper Arijanet Muric keep four clean sheets - among the club's best defensive records since the Roberto De Zerbi era.

Muharemovic: Idzes Transforms Team Morale

Their chemistry developed rapidly, with Tarik Muharemovic unreservedly praising his new partner.

“Idzes helps me and us (Sassuolo). He communicates constantly on the pitch and helps me boost the team's morale,” Muharemovic told Tutto Mercato.

The communication, positioning, and aerial bravery of the Indonesian national team captain have made Sassuolo's defense far more disciplined.

While Muharemovic provides composure in build-up play, their combination ensures Sassuolo rarely panics against top teams' pressure.

For Sassuolo, the Idzes-Muharemovic partnership is a primary reason for their consistent performance in this competitive Serie A season.

Should this stability continue, European qualification becomes a realistic target for I Neroverdi - an achievement seemingly impossible for most newly promoted sides.
