Sassuolo's defeat at SS Lazio's home ground in the continuation of Serie A is still regretted by Jay Idzes. The Indonesian National Team captain lamented Lazio's dramatic goal in stoppage time. Sassuolo surrendered 1-2 at Stadio Olimpico.
“We left the pitch without points and that's very regrettable. In the first 20 minutes we didn't play well, unlike previous matches,” stated Idzes, quoted from Sassuolo's official website.
The 25-year-old defender assessed his team struggled to develop their game due to an unsteady start. Additionally, he highlighted numerous passing errors throughout the match.

Sassuolo showed resistance through Armand Laurienté's 35th-minute goal. However, hopes of taking home at least one point vanished in the 90+2nd minute when Lazio defender Adam Marušić scored the hosts' decisive winner.
Idzes deeply regretted that moment as his team should have defended better in the match's final seconds.
“Our season has been full of ups and downs. We must overcome difficult periods and keep improving—that's our ambition. Ten matches remain. We don't know our final position, but we'll give everything till the end,” he said.
Marusic's dramatic goal sealed Lazio's advantage after the hosts initially scored through Daniel Maldini in the second minute.
Sassuolo coach Fabio Grosso believed Lazio's winning goal came when his team's energy was depleted late in the game.
“Unfortunately we couldn't extend our winning streak against a team in poor form (Lazio-ed). When we're not at our best, opponents capitalize,” Grosso lamented.
This defeat halted Sassuolo's positive trend of three consecutive league victories.
Conversely, for Lazio, this win marked their first three points in five recent matches across all competitions.
After Serie A's 28th matchweek, Sassuolo remains ninth in the standings with 38 points—just one point ahead of tenth-placed Lazio's 37 points.
