Jojo, Putri KW, and Rachel/Febi have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2026 China Open.

Indonesia has kept their title hopes alive at the 2026 China Open after three of their representatives successfully advanced to the quarter-final round. Jonatan Christie, Putri Kusuma Wardani, as well as women's doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum are preparing for tougher challenges at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Changzhou this Friday.

Jonatan Christie will face off against the host nation's men's singles player Victor Lai. This fixture gives Jojo, as he is affectionately known, the chance to avenge his loss at the 2026 Indonesia Open final held back in June.

Despite entering the match as the seeded player, Jojo has chosen not to carry the pressure of fixed targets. He intends to enjoy every match while continuing to improve the quality of his gameplay.

"My expectation is just to go out and enjoy playing. I want to turn around the form I showed at the Indonesia Open and earlier matches," Jojo stated, as quoted by PBSI.

Jojo secured his place in the final eight after defeating Singaporean singles shuttler Loh Kean Yew in a three-game encounter with final scores 12-21, 21-6, 21-13.

According to Jojo, his performance is gradually returning to peak standard, most notably his on-court decision making.

"It might not have reached the level I am aiming for yet, but it is getting better step by step," Jojo added.

Meanwhile Putri Kusuma Wardani continued her impressive tournament run after eliminating Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan in straight games 21-17, 21-14.

In the quarter-final round, Putri will meet Japanese women's singles player Tomoka Miyazaki. She has acknowledged her opponent plays with great tenacity, particularly during extended rallies.

"I need to stay alert for her overhead shots and her relentless endurance on court," Putri KW said.

She further noted that Tomoka's hitting power also requires careful anticipation.

"She has very strong wrist power. I absolutely cannot play careless loose shots. When I commit to constant attacking, that actually works to her advantage. The key will be keeping the shuttlecock outside of her comfortable reach," she explained.

In the women's doubles category, Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum progressed to the quarter-finals after overcoming United States pair Lauren Lam/Allison Quynh Lee in a tight three-game battle ending 17-21, 21-11, 21-19.

For their quarter-final match, Rachel/Febi will take on home Chinese pair Li Yi Jing/Luo Xu Min.

Though the two pairs have never met competitively before, the Indonesian duo remain confident they can continue their positive form.

"Tomorrow (today) for the quarter-final, we want to get another win. But there is a lot we need to prepare for, reflecting on our earlier match. We will keep our physical condition properly maintained," Rachel said.

At this stage, Jojo, Putri KW, and Rachel/Febi are now just one victory away from qualifying for the semi-finals of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 China Open 2026 tournament.
