Bali Province has reaffirmed its reputation as a national cultural hub. At the Indonesian Cultural Awards (AKI) 2025 by the Ministry of Culture, Bali swept four out of five contested award categories.

Head of Bali's Cultural Office (Disbud), I Gede Arya Sugiartha, stated in Denpasar on Thursday that the awards were secured for Best Regional Government, Best Museum, Best Cultural Park, and Best TMII Regional Pavilion categories.

“This achievement confirms Bali's position as a region consistently preserving cultural heritage while developing it amidst modernization,” said the Head of Bali's Cultural Office.

According to Arya Sugiartha, this success stems from collaborative efforts between the government, cultural practitioners, and Balinese communities working together to safeguard regional cultural identity.

“We deeply appreciate this award for Bali Province. It results from extraordinary dedication and synergy among all parties committed to maintaining culture as the heart of Balinese life,” he stated.

He added that the award aligns with the regional development vision positioning culture as its primary foundation.

The Bali Provincial Government, Arya noted, continues strengthening regulations and implementing local wisdom-based programs to preserve and advance culture.

“This award is tangible proof of our shared commitment and work in safeguarding, developing, and glorifying Balinese culture,” he emphasized.

The 2025 Indonesian Cultural Awards were held in two stages. The first stage on August 25 recognized 14 arts and culture practitioners.

The recently concluded second stage awarded five categories: TMII Regional Pavilion, Foreign Institutions & Individuals, Museum, Regional Government, and Cultural Park. Bali only missed victory in one category.

This accomplishment, Arya continued, signifies that Bali is not merely known as a global cultural tourism destination but also as a region successfully balancing developmental progress with preserving traditional values and national identity.

Meanwhile, Culture Minister Fadli Zon stated that the Indonesian Cultural Awards represent the state's appreciation for individuals, institutions, and regional governments consistently contributing to cultural advancement.

“Through these awards, we hope regional governments will become increasingly concerned and active in preserving their local cultures,” he expressed.

He emphasized that culture forms the civilization's foundation which must not be underestimated.

“Our cultural wealth is the heart of civilization—not an embellishment but the foundation. As Bung Karno said: beyond political sovereignty and economic independence, a strong nation must possess cultural character,” he concluded. (Antara)
