Kolaka – A major step has been taken by Indonesia's Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) together with the Kolaka Regency Government to secure national strategic assets. Through the Directorate of Coasts and Small Islands, six islands in Southeast Sulawesi have officially begun the certification process to strengthen the state's Asset Legality while opening investment opportunities in the Marine Tourism sector.
This certification process serves as a "red carpet" for Tourism developers seeking to harness small islands' potential in measurable and legally compliant ways.

According to KKP data, these six islands targeted for certification are designated as Other Use Areas (APL) and are uninhabited. The islands include:

- Pisang Island: 4.12 hectares
KKP's Middle Expert for Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Management, Rido Miduk Sugandi Batubara, stressed that island utilization must align with Regional Spatial Plans (RTRW). "This certification ensures both local and central governments can encourage businesses to develop these islands for tourism, agriculture, or plantations," he stated.
Major Opportunities in Sport & Travel Sector
Kolaka Regional Secretary Akbar welcomed this tactical move, noting tourism holds the greatest development potential, particularly for meeting recreational needs of local communities and thousands of mining sector workers in Kolaka.
"With strong legal foundations once investors arrive, we'll conduct Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to map each island's specific potential post-certification. This allows the Regional Government greater flexibility in offering opportunities to developers," Akbar explained to ANTARA.
These certified islands are projected to become new magnets for Sport Tourism activities like Diving, snorkeling, and organized Island Hopping along Kolaka's coast.
Field Implementation Schedule
The Land Office (Kantah) has scheduled three days for on-site measurement and mapping from Thursday (23/4) to Saturday (25/4). This program aims to boost Regional Original Revenue (PAD) while preserving Southeast Sulawesi's coastal environment.
