The annual Running event Mangkunegaran Run 2026 is confirmed to elevate its status after its route secured certification from the world athletics body. This event will be held in Solo on May 3, 2026.

This certification marks a crucial step in enhancing the competition's quality, particularly regarding course accuracy, participant safety, and international recognition.

“Race course certification is essential to guarantee quality standards, safety, and fairness in the competition. This certification ensures the course distance is accurate, the surface is safe to reduce injuries, and it is internationally recognized,” said K.G.P.A.A. Mangkoenagoro X.

He explained that the certification process was conducted directly by representatives of the world athletics body who came to Solo to ensure all aspects of the course met global standards.

This year, Mangkunegaran Run is part of the Adeging Mangkunegaran series and is projected to be joined by over 7,700 runners. The three contested categories are 5K, 10K, and half Marathon.

Beyond being a sporting event, it also embraces a concept combining sport, culture, and social interaction. Mangkoenagoro X emphasized that Mangkunegaran Run continuously presents innovations to introduce culture to the public through Sports activities.

Appreciation also came from Solo Mayor, Respati Adi, who observed a positive trend in the annual increase of participants.

“We see very positive developments, especially in terms of community participation and enthusiasm. Participant numbers increase every year, and more communities are getting involved,” he stated.

Another unique aspect of this event is the race route passing several historical points in Solo, offering a distinct experience for runners while showcasing the city's heritage.

Regarding support, Permata Bank also contributed to developing a sustainable sports ecosystem. Permata Bank President Director, Meliza M. Rusli, mentioned that this event also carries environmental impact.

One initiative involves converting the total distance covered by participants into planting up to 5,000 trees in Bukit Tigapuluh, Jambi, as part of efforts to preserve the Sumatran elephant habitat.

Meanwhile, Co-Founder and COO of Katadata Indonesia, Ade Wahyudi, highlighted the event's economic impact.

“Based on a Katadata Insight Center survey, the economic impact on Solo City reached IDR 40 billion, with average runner expenditure around IDR 2.5 million excluding tickets,” he said.

He added that this activity also boosted revenue for local businesses and increased tourist numbers during the event period.

With its blend of international standards, cultural concept, and economic impact, Mangkunegaran Run 2026 stands as one of Indonesia's notable running events.
