From Rancabuaya to Sendang Biru, Tourist Charm on Java's Southern Coastal Route.

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) encourages the public to utilize the South Coast Route not only as an alternative for 2026 Eid Homecoming but also as a gateway to previously overlooked tourism potentials. This route spans over 1,500 kilometers, connecting five provinces from Banten to East Java.

"The south coast route can serve as an alternative homecoming journey for the public. Besides helping reduce congestion on main routes like the Cikampek area, this route also holds significant Tourism Potential as it traverses Java Island's southern coastal areas," stated PU Minister Dody Hanggodo in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Unlike the northern route associated with congestion and industrialization, the southern coast offers a slower pace.

In southern Java, the journey becomes a layered visual experience. Indian Ocean waves crash against cliffs while coastlines reveal pristine beaches.

Along the route, Rancabuaya Beach and Pangandaran Beach in West Java offer dramatic landscapes. Meanwhile, Parangtritis Beach presents a blend of myths and endless horizons.

Further east, the journey culminates at Sendang Biru Beach, gateway to Sempu Island with its hidden lagoon.

However, this tourism potential doesn't stand alone. It's supported by ongoing government infrastructure improvements.

One such project is the complete rehabilitation of Cidahon Bridge on the Cilaki-Rancabuaya section in Garut Regency.

These repairs ensure journeys are not only beautiful but also safe.

During the 2026 Eid homecoming and return periods, route readiness is reinforced by hundreds of command posts at strategic points.

Nationally, 496 homecoming posts are operational, supplemented by 1,461 Disaster Relief Units (DRU) for emergency response.

Beyond these numbers, the southern coast offers something subtler: an opportunity to slow down.

This route invites travelers to pause, witness southern horizon sunsets, savor fresh seafood, or simply feel the salty ocean breeze.
