Tourism Trips often become an integral part of Eid Holiday moments. This year, one destination predicted to be crowded with visitors is Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java.

The management targets approximately 83,000 tourists to visit this world heritage site during the nine-day Eid holiday period in 2026.

This target reflects optimism about the growing public interest in exploring cultural destinations that serve as Indonesian Tourism icons.

Director of Operations at Borobudur Tourism Park, Supriadi Jufri, stated this target represents an approximately five percent increase compared to visitor numbers during the same period last year.

Cultural Tourism Regaining Popularity

Borobudur is more than just an ancient monument. The world's largest Buddhist temple complex has long been a magnet for Domestic Tourists and international travelers seeking to experience the blend of history, spirituality, and Javanese natural landscapes.

According to Supriadi, the increased visitation target is influenced by several factors, including improved tourism facilities and growing public interest in Traveling during holidays.

“The rise in visitor numbers aligns with increasing public enthusiasm for tourism and enhanced supporting facilities at Borobudur Tourist Destination,” he explained.

Preparations for Visitor Surge

Anticipating the tourist influx, destination managers have prepared various operational measures, including traffic flow management and parking area arrangements.

A primary focus is ensuring sufficient parking space for tour buses and private vehicles arriving from various cities across Java Island.

Supriadi mentioned the parking area in Kujon zone remains adequate to accommodate tourist vehicles during the holiday period.

"It's estimated to remain sufficient for parking needs throughout the holiday season. Nevertheless, management continues monitoring field conditions to ensure parking capacity remains adequate should visitor numbers increase," he stated.

This monitoring is crucial for maintaining visitor comfort while ensuring smooth mobility around the tourism area.

Significant Impact on Local Economy

Every long holiday season, increased tourist numbers to Borobudur bring significant economic benefits to surrounding communities.

Hotels, homestays, restaurants, souvenir sellers, and local tour guides all experience heightened economic activity when tourists crowd the area.

Through these preparations, management hopes this year's Eid holiday momentum will not only deliver enjoyable Travel Experiences for tourists but also provide economic benefits for communities around Borobudur.
