Along Cirebon's northern coast, the traces of history, traditional arts, and the pulse of ancient trade remain palpable. As millions prepare for journeys home and holidays celebrating Nyepi and Idul Fitri 2026, this old port city is once again capturing attention as a Tourist Destination rich with experiences, from royal palaces to colorful batik lanes.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana visited several destinations in the City and Regency of Cirebon, West Java.

During this inspection tour, she assessed that the area holds significant appeal for tourists looking to spend the long holidays along the Pantura route.

Widiyanti stated that destination readiness is a primary government focus, especially to ensure comfortable tourism experiences as visitor numbers surge during the Holiday period.

"It's important for us to conduct direct observations on how tourist sites in Cirebon City and Regency are preparing to welcome and manage the long holidays of Nyepi and Idul Fitri," she said.

One location visited was the Kasepuhan Palace, a historic palace symbolizing the power of the Cirebon Sultanate and a center of Javanese coastal Cultural Heritage.

The palace complex features unique architecture, blending Javanese, Chinese, and European influences. It reflects a past era when Cirebon was a crucial trading hub in the Nusantara maritime network.

Not far away, the delegation also visited the Cirebon Mask Museum. This museum displays collections of traditional masks, integral to local performing arts for centuries.

In its exhibition rooms, visitors can explore the philosophical meanings behind the mask characters used in Cirebon mask dance.

The journey continued to Batik Trusmi, a shopping area long renowned as a production center for Cirebon's distinctive batik. The Mega Mendung and Singa Payung motifs adorn shop displays, offering a cultural heritage-infused Shopping Tourism experience.

Widiyanti acknowledged the area holds a unique appeal for tourists, especially those wanting to bring home batik works directly from their production center.

She stated that the combination of Historical Tourism, traditional arts, and craft centers makes Cirebon a comprehensive destination for long holidays.

Amidst the homecoming travel flow crossing Pantura, this city is not merely a stopover but a Tourist Destination with a cultural story in every corner.
