Amidst the tradition of returning to hometowns, Jakarta offers a different narrative for Eid 2026. Instead of leaving the capital, residents are invited to come and celebrate the Holiday in the metropolitan center through a program titled Mudik ke Jakarta. This program combines promotions for tourist tickets, hotel discounts, and Free Public Transportation.

“The main theme is Mudik ke Jakarta. Why 'Mudik ke Jakarta'? Rather than dealing with traffic jams and difficulties. Nowadays, it's the era of video calls. We can meet with relatives anytime,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo in Central Jakarta, Friday, February 27, 2026.

This program is a collaboration between the Jakarta Provincial Government, the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Jakarta Chapter, the Indonesian Travel Agents Association (Astindo) Jakarta Chapter, and the Jakarta Experience Board.

This collaboration positions Jakarta as an urban escape destination during the period of February 27 to March 31, 2026.

Hotel Promos to Private City Tours

Through the Mudik ke Jakarta program, visitors can enjoy hotel promotions including special prices and "pay for 2 nights, get 3 nights" deals at 26 Jakarta hotels.

Additionally, shopping vouchers are available at 8 ITC Group outlets, along with discounts or special prices at various Tourism areas such as recreation and entertainment venues, museums, cinemas, Golf Courses, and spas.

Travel to the capital is made easier with discounts or special prices for Citilink flights and Indonesian Railways (KAI) services to Jakarta.

Private City Tour packages are also available for tourists wanting to explore Jakarta's historical and modern sides more intimately.

Free Transportation and 70% Discounts

Eid in Jakarta will feel different as the provincial government provides free Public Transportation including Jakarta LRT, MRT, and TransJakarta.

Jakarta also presents Jakarta Festive Wonder, involving 101 shopping centers across the capital. Through this program, the public can enjoy discounts up to 70%.

Thus, holidaymakers can shop, stroll, and enjoy their Jakarta vacation using Public Transportation completely free of charge.

“Essentially, Jakarta will be safe and comfortable. And anyone celebrating Eid here will gain countless benefits,” stated Pramono.

Celebrating Eid in a New Way

This program shifts the classic paradigm of homecoming. Jakarta, typically deserted during holidays, now transforms into a primary destination.

With discounted hotels, economical travel tickets, private city tours, and free transportation, the capital offers a more practical and modern Eid experience.

For urban travelers wanting to avoid homecoming congestion or seeking alternative 2026 Eid holidays, Mudik ke Jakarta blends big-city comfort with festive celebrations.
