Jakarta – The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta through the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) is finalizing plans for a large-scale Culinary Festival to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah, which falls in 2026.
Head of the Creative Economy Division at DKI Jakarta's Parekraf Department, Puji Astuti, confirmed that her team is currently holding intensive discussions regarding implementation logistics. "This year, we will organize a Culinary Festival. The dates are still being discussed, tentatively planned for March 7-8, 2026," stated Puji when contacted in Jakarta on Sunday, 2/22/2026.
Although the dates have been mapped, the department has not yet detailed the exact locations or specific culinary types that will be featured in the festival.

This initiative follows the success of the Creative Market program held during Ramadan 2025 (1446 H). Last year, DKI Provincial Government successfully activated five administrative city areas as community gathering points for ngabuburit (evening pre-fasting activities).
Last year, similar events were held at iconic locations including:
Central Jakarta: Banteng Field Park
South Jakarta: Tebet Eco Park
East Jakarta: Cempaka Park
West Jakarta: Wijaya Kusuma Park
North Jakarta: Gorontalo Park and Old Town Area (Lada & Coriander Street).
Beyond culinary offerings, the festival typically incorporates craft and fashion sectors. A key attraction is the collaboration with Perumda Pasar Jaya through Tanah Abang Corner, bringing direct collections of premium Muslim fashion from Tanah Abang Market to festival venues.
To enhance the spiritual atmosphere, the Culinary Festival plans to maintain religious and cultural elements, featuring Islamic Music performances and seven-minute religious lectures (kultum) before iftar (breaking fast) time.
The festival's presence is projected to provide fresh momentum for Jakarta's MSMEs to upgrade their businesses and expand market reach during Ramadan's high economic activity period.
Through diverse product curation, DKI Provincial Government aims to offer varied iftar menu selections—from authentic traditional snacks to trending modern cuisine—providing Jakarta residents and surrounding communities with a representative ngabuburit destination.
This initiative is expected to not only amplify the capital's festive atmosphere but also stimulate the local economy through direct transactions between small-scale traders and the community.
