Eid al-Fitr Holiday is synonymous with homecoming, but not everyone chooses to return to their hometowns. For those staying in the capital, the Blok M area actually becomes one of the Favorite Destinations to enjoy the festive atmosphere in a different way.

Interestingly, many residents utilize the convenience of Jakarta's MRT to reach this location. Besides being fast and comfortable, the special Rp1 fare during Eid is a strong reason why this transportation mode is heavily used.

One visitor, Chika (29), chose to spend time with family at Blok M because of its practical accessibility.

"We didn't go home this second day of Eid, so we opted to explore Jakarta instead. We took the MRT because it's faster and more comfortable, especially with children," said Chika when met at Blok M MRT Station, Jakarta, Sunday, March 22, 2026.

For young people, Blok M is also gaining popularity as a culinary hotspot. Many viral eateries are making the area livelier, especially during Long Holidays.

"We want to try the food at Blok M since there are many viral spots. We took the MRT to avoid traffic jams - it's more practical," said Rafi.

Besides practicality, Public Transportation is also considered more economical, particularly when roads are congested.

"During this busy Eid period, I really can't be bothered with driving a motorcycle or car. Better to take MRT or other public transport - currently cheap, Free, fast, and practical," Rafi stated.

For residents from outside Jakarta, connectivity is an added value. As experienced by Nanda (28) from Depok.

"I'm from outside Jakarta and continued with MRT since it goes directly to Blok M. So convenient - no need to switch vehicles," said Nanda.

Observations at several stations showed passenger surges heading to Blok M from afternoon until night. Stations were filled with families, young people, and groups enjoying holidays without leaving the city.

Despite the crowds, conditions remained orderly. Queues at gates and platforms flowed smoothly thanks to staff management. Even facilities like elevators were utilized by seniors and families with young children.

Upon exiting the station, holiday vibes immediately set in. Sidewalks and areas around Blok M filled with pedestrians hunting for food, hanging out at cafes, or simply strolling to enjoy the city atmosphere.

Some visitors were also seen stopping to take photos around the area, especially with their signature Eid outfits adding warm nuances amid Jakarta's bustle.

As one of the legendary areas in South Jakarta, Blok M truly offers complete appeal - from street food and aesthetic Coffee shops to public spaces perfect for relaxing.

Coupled with the Rp1 fare program for transport like MRT, Jabodebek LRT, and TransJakarta, this creates momentum for residents to explore the city hassle-free.

For those skipping homecoming, Blok M can be a Short Vacation option that's still exciting, economical, and experience-packed.
