Blangikhan or Blangiran is a self-purification tradition passed down through generations by the Lampung community. This tradition is not merely a ceremony preceding Ramadan but also reflects how culture and local economy coexist in one authentic living space.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, appreciated the organization of the Blangikhan Tradition in Central Lampung as a tangible manifestation of tourism growing from community initiatives.

According to her, culture is the breath of quality, competitive, Sustainable Tourism deeply rooted in the nation's identity.
"This is the tangible form of tourism that grows from the community, is managed collectively, and provides direct benefits for local prosperity," she stated.
Blangikhan is a self-purification tradition before entering the holy month of Ramadan. The procession involves self-sprinkling using water from seven springs, symbolizing physical and spiritual cleansing.
Beyond symbolism, this ritual invites the community to improve relationships with others, strengthen mental and spiritual readiness, and prepare themselves to welcome Ramadan worship.
Since 2019, this tradition has been designated by the Ministry of Education and Culture as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Amid the procession, rows of local MSME products enlivened the celebration. Tapis fabrics, traditional cuisine, and handicrafts were displayed in a vibrant cultural ecosystem.
The presence of these small and medium-sized businesses demonstrates that tradition is not only a spiritual space but also a concrete economic driver.
Ni Luh Puspa encouraged Tourism Villages in Lampung Province to enhance their quality and competitiveness not only nationally but also internationally.
She added that the Ministry of Tourism is ready to support and collaborate to create better, higher quality, and more sustainable Indonesian Tourism.
Lampung Deputy Governor, Jihan Nurlela, revealed that Lampung currently ranks 9th in the list of Indonesia's top 10 regions with the highest Tourist Visits contribution.
However, she acknowledged challenges remain in building a more optimal and integrated tourism ecosystem.
She hoped for support from the Deputy Minister of Tourism to realize development programs, including plans for a Special Economic Zone (KEK), bringing tangible benefits to the community, particularly in strengthening Lampung Province's tourism sector.
