Eid al-Fitr holiday is always a golden moment for traveling. From homecoming combined with sightseeing to staycations in tourist cities, millions of people usually take advantage of this moment to vacation with family or friends.
Ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday season, the government is beginning preparations to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable holiday experience for tourists. One step is by issuing specific guidelines for tourism destination managers across Indonesia.
This measure is taken to anticipate the tourist surge that almost always occurs during the Eid period.

Government Prepares Tourism Guidelines for Eid Holiday
The Ministry of Tourism issued a circular letter regarding the implementation of tourism activities during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday or Eid 2026.
This circular letter is addressed to local governments, tourism destination managers, and various parties involved in the tourism industry to improve service quality for tourists.
"The circular letter contains an appeal to local governments, destination managers, and all parties to prepare destinations for the Eid period," said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
Through this policy, the government wants to ensure every Tourist Destination can provide a safe and comfortable holiday experience for visitors.
Focus on Tourist Safety and Comfort
In the guidelines, the Ministry of Tourism emphasizes the importance of implementing cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability standards at tourist destinations.
These standards refer to the risk-based tourism business regulations outlined in Minister of Tourism Regulation Number 6 of 2025.
Additionally, local governments are asked to support the smooth running of tourism activities during the Eid holiday, including ensuring the readiness of transportation facilities to tourist destinations.
Coordination with tourist attraction managers is also emphasized, especially to provide supporting facilities such as rest areas for drivers undertaking long journeys.
This step is considered important because Tourism Travel during Eid often involves long, tiring road trips.
Tourist Destinations Asked to Prepare for Disaster Risks
Besides comfort factors, destination managers are also asked to enhance preparedness for potential disasters in tourist areas.
The Ministry of Tourism directs every destination manager to identify tourist areas that have potential disaster risks.
Several requested mitigation measures include preparing early warning systems, evacuation routes, evacuation signs, and emergency response facilities.
This effort is made so tourists still feel safe even when visiting destinations with potential natural risks.
Widiyanti also revealed that as of February 27, 2026, 35 provincial governments had filled out the Disaster-Prone Tourism Destination Data.
This data covers a total of 4,748 tourist attractions across Indonesia.
From this number, 327 destinations fall into the high-risk category, 1,570 destinations have medium risk, and 718 destinations have low risk. Meanwhile, about 2,133 other destinations are still undergoing vulnerability level identification.
Government Conducts On-Site Checks
Ahead of the Eid holiday season, officials from the Ministry of Tourism are also conducting direct inspections to several tourist destinations.
This activity is carried out to ensure managers have prepared adequate facilities and services to face the surge of tourists.
Typically, the Eid period is one of the peaks of tourist visits in Indonesia. Popular destinations such as beach areas, mountains, and City Tourism spots are often crowded with tourists from various regions.
Therefore, infrastructure readiness, visitor management, and safety standards become crucial factors for a smooth holiday.
For travelers, this step is hoped to ensure the Eid holiday experience remains exciting without worrying about destination safety or comfort.
