Umuh Muchtar Says Persib vs Persija Match More Than Final

Persib Bandung enters the decisive phase in the hunt for the BRI Super League 2025/2026 title. Ahead of the heated duel against Persija Jakarta in week 32 at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda, Sunday, May 10, 2026, the management of Maung Bandung emphasized there's no room for dropping points.

Persib manager, Umuh Muchtar, even stated that the match against their classic rivals holds greater significance than a final match. The high pressure at the top of the Standings table makes victory non-negotiable for Bojan Hodak's squad.

"Tomorrow's match (against Persija) is like a final, even more significant than a final actually. I've spoken with Bojan and asked the players to perform at their best, to bring home full points as a gift for the Bobotoh," said Umuh in Bandung.

The atmosphere of a Persib vs. Persija duel always brings high tension. This time, however, the match has a major impact on Persib's chances of keeping their path to the championship title open.

Umuh stressed that his team must win all their remaining matches if they want to keep their chances of lifting the trophy this season alive. According to him, every point is crucial in the tight competition at the top.

"We are focused on winning three times: win, win, and win. That's the target so there are no obstacles on the path to the championship," said Umuh.

This optimism was built after intensive communication between the management and coach Bojan Hodak regarding the team's readiness. Persib wants to ensure all players are in their best condition when they play in Samarinda.

For Umuh, the duel against Persija is not just a Big Match, but a crucial point that could determine the direction of Persib's journey at the end of the season.

"The point is, in all remaining matches, we must strive to get full points. God willing, hopefully we won't end up with a draw, let alone a loss," said Umuh.

Persib also wants to give a victory as a special gift to the Bobotoh who have continuously supported the team's struggle throughout the season. 

Umuh hopes the players will give their all and show a Champion's mentality in this highly prestigious match.

"I've spoken with Bojan and asked the players to perform at their maximum and bring home full points," he emphasized.

With only three matches left until the end of the season, the Persib vs. Persija duel is certain to be one of the most decisive matches in the race for this season's BRI Super League title.
