Bekasi is gradually revealing its new face to Generation Z. Once identified primarily as a buffer zone for Jakarta, the city now emerges as an urban canvas where visual aesthetics, open spaces, and personal experiences converge in a single journey.
The rise of Visual Tourism, emphasizing aesthetic value alongside spatial experiences, serves as the gateway for increased interest among young travelers toward Bekasi's destinations.
For Generation Z, Travel isn't merely about changing locations—it's about how a space is felt and retold.

Aesthetic Tourism Becomes Trend, Bekasi Catches Gen Z Travelers' Eyes
Visual aspects now stand as primary considerations in choosing destinations and accommodations, alongside needs for relaxation and emotional recovery.
“Gen Z is highly selective. They seek places offering not just comfort but also strong visual character. Shareable experiences become crucial added value,” stated hospitality industry representative Yudhitia Kurniawan on Friday.
This shift in preferences drives Tourism industry players—from hotels to destination managers—to creatively redesign spaces.
Thematic designs, aesthetic communal areas, and meticulously planned lighting become essential elements in crafting memorable visual experiences.
2025 Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data shows Gen Z's primary travel motivation remains rooted in basic needs: 67.2% seek leisure, followed by cultural exploration (18.5%) and new experiences (14.3%).
These percentages reveal that beyond social media influences, young travelers still pursue pauses, meaning, and emotional restoration.
In Bekasi, visual tourism trends are unlocking new opportunities for urban tourism and Creative Economy development.
Jakarta's buffer region is seizing momentum by offering spaces blending nature, design, and thematic entertainment.
“Instagrammable tourism isn't just about photos. When managed well, aesthetics can become a gateway to boost local economies and introduce previously overlooked destinations,” he explained.
Several destinations are capturing Gen Z's attention. Bekasi Bamboo Forest offers visual tranquility contrasting with urban landscapes.
Delta Mas Savanna presents vast open spaces with natural ambiance, while Situ Rawa Gede provides serene waters and green areas.
Meanwhile, Trans Snow World Bekasi delivers unique thematic experiences—a winter world within a tropical city.
These destinations strengthen Bekasi's position as an alternative urban tourism hub in West Java.
Yet aesthetics aren't the end goal. Yudhitia hopes visual tourism development will align with sustainable spatial planning, ensuring experiences transcend digital content to leave lasting, holistic impressions.
“Through accurate data integration and targeted regional planning, Bekasi now prepares to lead West Java's urban tourism market—catering to generations valuing both beauty and meaning in their journeys,” he concluded.
