Thin mist enveloped the Guci highlands in Tegal Regency. The Tourism pulse at one of Central Java's Favorite Destinations on the slopes of Mount Slamet slowed during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Central Java Youth, Tourism, and Sports Office recorded a significant decline in Tourist Visits to the Guci Tourist Area during the year-end long Holiday period.

Head of Disporapar Central Java, Muhamad Masrofi, stated the decrease reached 27.45 percent compared to the same period the previous year.

"The flash flood that hit the Guci area is certainly one factor reducing public interest in visiting Guci," he said.

Based on official data, the number of Tourist Visits to Guci between December 20, 2025, and January 4, 2026, was recorded at 30,606 people.

This figure is much lower than the 2024/2025 Nataru Holiday period, which saw 42,187 tourists.

This means this Mountain Tourism area lost around 11,581 visitors.

Numerically, the Guci tourist site lost approximately 11,581 travelers during the 2025/2026 Nataru Holiday period.

According to Masrofi, besides the impact of the flash flood, weather factors also played a major role. High rainfall caused Rain and drizzle nearly every day, affecting tourist comfort.

Furthermore, Guci's main icon, the Pancuran 13 Hot Springs pool, has not yet reopened.

"The tourist locations in Guci are open; only Pancuran 13 cannot be used because it was affected by the flood. However, other locations, like Pancuran Five and others, are still operational and can be visited by tourists," he explained.

He elaborated that Pancuran 13 suffered the most severe flood damage. Meanwhile, Pancuran Five has been repaired and is once again available for tourists.

Nevertheless, Masrofi asserted that the Guci area remains generally safe for visits. Supporting facilities such as hotels, villas, and most other Hot Springs Bathing locations continue to operate normally.

"Because of the major flood event, we implemented mitigation measures, providing extra security for the comfort of tourist visits in Guci," he stated.

Repair work on Pancuran 13 is still ongoing. However, the management assures that this does not disrupt overall tourism activities.

Amid post-flood recovery efforts, Guci still offers its signature mountain experience: cool air, green landscapes, and natural Hot Springs Bathing

Management hopes that as facilities recover and the weather improves, tourist flow to Guci will warm up again, much like the hot water that has long been this destination's identity.
