Liverpool failed to maximize their home advantage once more after being held to a goalless Draw by Leeds United in the rescheduled 19th week of the 2025/26 Premier League at Anfield Stadium, early Friday morning, 2 January 2026 WIB. Dominating from the opening minutes, The Reds were forced to settle for a share of the points, losing crucial momentum in the race for the top.

The 0-0 draw did not change their position on the league table, leaving them stuck in fourth place with 33 points from 19 matches. Meanwhile, Leeds United returned home with a valuable point.

Leeds Play Bravely, Liverpool Blunt

Instead of being pressured, Leeds United actually displayed courage from the outset despite Liverpool dominating possession. The visitors nearly stole an early lead in the 6th minute.

However, Jaka Bijol's attempt to test Alisson Becker's readiness bore no fruit. The Liverpool goalkeeper was still able to secure the ball.

Liverpool responded quickly with two chances through Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Yet, both opportunities, which should have made the difference, were thwarted by Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri.

In the first half, ball possession dominance belonged to Liverpool, but Leeds's compact defense frustrated the hosts.

The best chance for The Reds came in the 32nd minute. Hugo Ekitike met a cross in front of goal, but his header veered off target.

Liverpool's Old Problem: Finishing

The second half followed the same pattern. Liverpool remained dominant, while Leeds stayed disciplined and waited for counter-attacking opportunities.

Final execution became the main issue for The Reds. Several crosses into the Leeds penalty box were wasted.

Until the final whistle blew, the 0-0 scoreline remained unchanged, and both teams had to settle for a point each.

This result serves as an alarm for Liverpool, who once again failed to secure maximum points at Anfield. Dominance without effectiveness returned as the familiar story.

Meanwhile, Leeds proved that defending with discipline and courage could steal a result from even the toughest stadium.
