The 16th week of the 2025/26 English Premier League delivered crucial results that reshaped the top-tier competition landscape. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool all secured victories, maintaining pressure in the title race and European qualification zones during a tense weekend.

Arsenal took center stage with a dramatic 2-1 home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Emirates Stadium in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025 WIB. The Gunners emerged victorious from a tightly contested match decided in the final minutes.

Two unexpected own goals from Sam Johnstone and Yerson Mosquera gave Arsenal their advantage. Wolves briefly fought back through Tolu Arokodare's late equalizer, but the hosts ultimately secured three vital points.

These additional points solidified Arsenal's position at the Premier League summit with 36 points.

The Gunners now hold a five-point lead over closest rivals Manchester City, who face Crystal Palace on Sunday at 21:00 WIB.

Conversely, defeat in North London worsened Wolverhampton's predicament. They extended their winless streak and remain rooted at the bottom with just two points from 16 matches.

Chelsea Overpower Everton

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea delivered a commanding performance in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Everton. Both Blues goals came in the first half of the December 13, 2025 fixture.

Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto provided the decisive contributions. This win maintained Chelsea's consistency among the elite, returning them to fourth place with 28 points.

For Everton, the result leaves them stalled in eighth position with 24 points from 16 games. Inconsistency remains their primary obstacle in the European qualification chase.

Liverpool Reintroduce Salah

Meanwhile, Liverpool returned to winning ways with Saturday's 2-0 Anfield triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion. The Reds dominated proceedings from the outset.

New striker Hugo Ekitike starred with both goals. Mohamed Salah – returning after being omitted by Arne Slot for three consecutive matches – immediately contributed an assist.

This result propelled Liverpool to sixth place with 26 points. Brighton missed their chance to climb from ninth, remaining on 23 points.

With victories for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool, the 2025/26 Premier League title race intensifies. Consistency during the congested fixture period approaching year-end becomes crucial for top teams maintaining momentum in their seasonal pursuits.
