Persib Bandung has a key player in the forward line currently grabbing the attention of supporters and observers of Indonesian Football. He is Ramon de Andrade Souza, better known as Ramon Tanque, the Brazilian striker who has found his best form in the last three matches with Maung Bandung.

Ramon Tanque was born on September 10, 1998, in Belém, Brazil. Standing 1.88 meters tall, his height gives him a significant advantage in aerial duels and penalty box finishing. He began his professional career with various Brazilian clubs like Americano, CRB, and Botafogo before seeking opportunities abroad.

His career path led him to Europe when he joined Austrian club FC Dornbirn for the 2023–2024 season. There, he played 20 matches and contributed six goals in Austria's second-tier league. This experience served as a crucial stepping stone in Tanque's development.

A new challenge emerged when he moved to Southeast Asia, joining Visakha FC in the Cambodian Premier League for the 2024/2025 season. His performances there drew widespread attention, as he recorded 21 goals and 5 assists in 28 appearances, becoming one of the competition's top scorers and helping Visakha FC secure third place in the final Standings

Joining Persib Bandung

On June 28, 2025, Ramon was officially unveiled as Persib Bandung's new player on a two-year contract, part of the club's strategy to strengthen its attack following the departure of their previous striker.

Persib's Deputy CEO, Adhitia Putra Herawan, revealed that head coach Bojan Hodak directly recommended signing Ramon after being impressed by his performances in Asia. With his ideal physical build and sharp goal-scoring instincts, Ramon is expected to add a new dimension to Persib.

“Welcome, Ramon Tanque. Maximize your prime years with golden achievements at Persib. Adapt quickly because Persib must hit the ground running in Liga 1 and the AFC Champions League Two,” stated Adhitia during Tanque's official presentation.

Playing Style: Physical Power and Clinical Finishing

Ramon is known as a classic muscle-reliant striker who excels in aerial battles and penalty box goal-scoring. Rather than making deep runs, he thrives on crosses and set-piece situations.

His physical dominance and aerial prowess were evident in key Persib matches, including against Bhayangkara FC. Ramon opened the scoring in the 10th minute and netted again in the 62nd, securing a 2–0 victory for Persib at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium.

Local media has highlighted his "iron head" nickname due to his aerial superiority and ability to convert chances with headers or high balls – a decisive factor in Maung Bandung's recent victories.

Statistical Progress at Persib

After joining, Ramon initially struggled with his primary duty as a goalscorer. However, his relentless effort consistently earned him playing time.

Signs of resurgence appeared when he broke his goal drought by scoring against Borneo FC.

Since then, he's been unstoppable – netting the lone goal against Bangkok United and most recently bagging a brace against Bhayangkara FC to secure three points and improve Persib's league position.

This rising conversion rate demonstrates his smooth adaptation to Indonesian football, despite its higher intensity and physicality compared to Cambodia's league. His blend of European and Southeast Asian experience allows him to evolve according to team needs.

At 26-27 years old, Ramon remains in his footballing prime. With coach Bojan Hodak's support and tactical fit, he's projected to be Persib's main striker for seasons to come.

Maung Bandung's Goal Machine

Ramon Tanque isn't just another new name at Maung Bandung – he's a long-term investment projected to become Persib's goal machine. With multi-league experience, formidable physique, and refined aerial ability, he brings fresh hope for supporters to witness a sharper, more productive frontline.
