Indonesia's air connectivity with China continues to be strengthened. The launch of the Guangzhou-Jakarta and Shenzhen-Jakarta flight routes is a strategic move to accommodate the rising number of Tourist Visits from China to Indonesia.
The opening of these two new routes is expected to make it even easier for Chinese tourists to reach Jakarta as the main gateway, before continuing their journeys to various leading destinations across the country.
"The presence of these two new flight routes is a proactive response to accommodate the growing number of International Tourists from China which is showing a positive trend, especially for arrivals to Jakarta," stated Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, in her official statement released in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Strong interest from the Chinese market is reflected in the passenger load factor of the inaugural flights. The first aircraft serving the Guangzhou-Jakarta route landed at International Airport Soekarno-Hatta on 16 June carrying 172 passengers, equal to around 92.5 percent of total seat capacity.
One day later, the inaugural Shenzhen-Jakarta flight delivered similarly impressive performance. A total of 178 passengers, or 95.6 percent of seat capacity, arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
All passengers on both inaugural flights received Wonderful Indonesia themed souvenirs, introducing the richness of Indonesia's national Tourism destinations from the very moment they first set foot in the country.
This air connectivity will be further strengthened going forward. Spring Airlines is scheduled to operate round-trip Guangzhou-Jakarta flights three times per week, every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, using Airbus A320 aircraft.
Meanwhile, the Shenzhen-Jakarta route will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This flight schedule is expected to fulfil both leisure and Business Travel requirements.
Improved air access is a critical factor driving growth in the tourism sector. The easier it is for tourists to reach Indonesia, the greater the opportunity for all tourism destinations to capture economic benefits from these visitor arrivals.
"This measure is expected to attract more sustainable visits from Chinese tourists to Indonesia, so that their travel interest remains maintained and continues to grow in the coming period," said Made.
Government data shows China remains one of Indonesia's largest international tourist source markets. Throughout the January-April 2026 period, Chinese tourist arrivals reached 491,726, representing a 25.58 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025 which recorded 391,578 visits.
