The success of the Indonesian contingent in achieving brilliant results at the SEA Games 2025 has become the main focus of the Indonesian public. As of Saturday, 13 December 2025, the Red and White squad has successfully collected 31 gold medals, placing Indonesia consistently in the top three of the provisional standings.
This achievement is not merely a number, but a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and fighting spirit of the athletes competing for the nation's name.
This achievement received direct appreciation from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. Through the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir, the President conveyed his pride in the struggle of the Indonesian athletes at the largest sporting event in Southeast Asia.

"The President assessed that the athletes have shown their best effort in carrying out this noble duty, because appearing in the SEA Games does not just mean appearing in a competition, but rather the task of defending the nation so that Indonesia Raya resonates in front of other nations," said Menpora Erick Thohir in his press release, Sunday, 14 December 2025.
For President Prabowo, the SEA Games is not just a regional competition, but a stage of honour for athletes to show the nation's identity. Every match played, every medal won, and every Red and White flag that flies, holds strategic significance in strengthening national pride and unity.
As a form of attention and moral support, President Prabowo also conveyed a special message to all athletes still competing in the SEA Games 2025. The message was delivered so that the athletes maintain their focus, discipline, and mental strength until the final day of competition.
“Mr. President Prabowo sends greetings to all athletes fighting in the SEA Games. He thanked the medalists for their spirit in delivering achievements. Mr. President also advised the athletes to give their all in competition until the final day, stay concentrated, disciplined, and build mental strength and confidence, because this is the key to victory,” said Menpora Erick.
This message underscores that a champion's mentality is a crucial element in achievement sports. Amidst competition pressure and public expectations, athletes are required to be not only physically strong but also psychologically mature. The government hopes the athletes can maintain performance consistency for maximum results at the end of the SEA Games.
As a form of tangible appreciation, President Prabowo also ensured the government is preparing bonuses for gold medalist athletes. A bonus of IDR 1 billion is prepared as a form of the state's tribute to athletes who have brought honour to Indonesia's name on the international stage.
Providing this bonus is not only financial appreciation, but also a symbol of the state's recognition of the athletes' struggle as sports heroes. The government hopes this policy can become additional motivation, as well as encouragement for the younger generation to pursue achievement sports and keep Indonesia competing at regional and global levels.
