Uzbekistan League club Navbahor has appointed Timur Kapadze as head coach. Kapadze was previously heavily linked to Indonesia as a candidate for the Garuda National Team coaching position. With a strong track record at both club and international levels, Navbahor's decision has captured the attention of Asian football.

Navbahor announced Kapadze's appointment through the club's official website and Instagram account.

"Navbahor Football Club today officially introduced Timur Kapadze as the new head coach. The experienced coach has discussed all relevant matters with the club management and reached a full agreement regarding the team's future plans and targets. Both parties have signed the contract," stated the club's official announcement.

Uzbekistan Icon Returns to Domestic League

Navbahor was not exaggerating when describing Kapadze as one of the most influential figures in modern Uzbek football.

"Throughout his coaching career, he has successfully led teams from youth levels to the senior national team. Under his guidance, these teams achieved significant results on the international stage," wrote the club.

Navbahor management places high hopes on Kapadze's modern approach.

"Navbahor management believes that Kapadze's experience, professional vision, and modern approach to football will play a crucial role in achieving the club's set targets."

This appointment marks an important moment for Navbahor, who recently finished the 2025 Uzbekistan League in seventh place with 40 points, 20 points behind champions Neftchi Fergana.

The club needs a new identity and a figure capable of building long-term stability. Kapadze is seen as the right fit.

Former Uzbekistan National Team Coach Who Was a Strong Candidate for Indonesian National Team Coach

For the Indonesian public, Kapadze is not an unfamiliar name. He was touted as a strong candidate for the Indonesian national team coach before the PSSI (Football Association of Indonesia) decided on another direction. His credibility is unquestionable.

Kapadze was head coach of the Uzbekistan U23 team and led them at the 2024 Olympic Games.

He also took charge of the Uzbekistan senior national team in January 2025. Under his leadership, Uzbekistan made history by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup finals for the first time.

However, this journey did not last long. Kapadze officially resigned in November 2025, shortly after the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) appointed Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro as coach for the 2026 World Cup.

A New Start, A New Challenge

Now, Kapadze begins a new chapter with Navbahor. With a reputation as a progressive-minded coach, he is expected to revive the ambitions of the success-hungry club.

For Kapadze, this is not merely a return to the domestic league, but an opportunity to build a long-term project that aligns with his coaching philosophy.

For Navbahor, Kapadze is not just a coach, but a symbol of newfound confidence.

Meanwhile, for the Indonesian public, this appointment serves as a reminder that the national team coaching candidate who was once on their radar continues to prove his quality at the highest level of Asian football.
