The PFF has yet to announce a new head coach for the Indonesian National Team to replace Patrick Kluivert. However, several candidate names have circulated, one of them being Timur Kapadze. Recently, the former head coach of the Uzbekistan National Team is reported to be ready to helm the Garuda squad, replacing Kluivert.

Uzbek media outlet, Zamin, reported that negotiations between the two parties have entered the final stage.

“I am ready to lead the Indonesian National Team. I am currently free and awaiting an offer,” said Kapadze, as quoted by Zamin on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

According to the Zamin report, which cited Championat.asia, Kapadze is named as the primary candidate to handle the Indonesian National Team after the PFF parted ways with Kluivert.

The 44-year-old coach is no stranger to Asian football. Kapadze successfully led the Uzbekistan National Team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals. This became a historic achievement, marking the Central Asian nation's first-ever appearance in the quadrennial tournament.

During the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers, Uzbekistan performed brilliantly, finishing second in Group A. From ten matches, they amassed 21 points, the result of six wins, three draws, and only one defeat.

Despite successfully making history with Uzbekistan, the football federation instead appointed Fabio Cannavaro as the new head coach.

Kapadze accepted that decision and returned to being an assistant coach. However, after assisting Cannavaro for two matches, he decided to seek a new challenge.

Previously, Kapadze had also served as an assistant coach to Srecko Katanec. He was then entrusted as head coach after Katanec resigned due to health issues last January.

Now, after closing a successful chapter with Uzbekistan, Timur Kapadze is ready to start a new one. Will Timur Kapadze become the head coach of the Indonesian National Team?
