A new era in maritime travel is dawning. Next month, Malaysia will witness the departure of the world's first Muslim-friendly cruise ship, the M/V Piano Land, an innovation blending luxury cruising with Islamic cultural values and inclusivity.
The ship was developed through a partnership between Astro Ocean Cruise and Hwajing Travel & Tours. It is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage from Port Klang on November 29, 2025.

Amid the global rise of halal tourism, Piano Land offers a more personal sailing experience aligned with the spiritual needs of Muslim travelers.
With a capacity for 1,760 passengers across 880 cabins spread over 10 decks, the ship is designed as a floating space connecting the beauty of the Southeast Asian seas with cultural comfort.
Upon entering its interiors, travelers will find a warm atmosphere, a blend of modern design and Islamic values.
Every corner of the ship is part of the journey's narrative, from family cabins to spacious decks for enjoying the ever-changing sea horizon.
100% Halal Cuisine, Roast Duck to Healthy Menu Options
One of Piano Land's main attractions is its 100 percent halal cuisine crafted by experienced culinary experts.
Guests can savor special menus like Hong Kong-style roast duck, adapted with halal-certified ingredients. This exemplifies how cross-cultural culinary traditions can blend without losing authenticity.
Unlike conventional cruises, the ship does not serve alcoholic beverages in restaurants or lounges.
All beverages are alcohol-free, creating a more comfortable atmosphere for Muslim travelers and non-Muslim tourists seeking a calm, more mindful cruising experience.
Religious Facilities, Family Spaces, and Holistic Relaxation
True to its Muslim-friendly concept, Piano Land incorporates dedicated prayer spaces as an integral part of its design.
When prayer times arrive, guests can proceed directly to specially designed areas, ensuring their spiritual journey continues harmoniously amidst the ocean.
For families, the ship offers a kids' club and various child-friendly entertainment. While children play safely, parents can enjoy the spa, indulge in afternoon tea, or participate in wellness workshops designed for relaxation and balance.
Connecting Ports, Culture, and Blue Seas
Sailing from Port Klang and Penang, Piano Land will take travelers through the Southeast Asian seas, rich with beauty and history.
The journey on deck not only offers ocean panoramas but also opens doors to vibrant surrounding destinations full of local character.
In his remarks, Kenny Cheong, Managing Director of Hwajing Travel & Tours, emphasized the grand vision behind the ship.
"With Piano Land, we demonstrate that luxury cruising can align with halal values, inclusive hospitality, and cultural respect," he stated, as quoted by Travel Weekly Asia.
This is a proud reflection of Malaysia's readiness to welcome travelers from all backgrounds with warmth and authenticity," he added.
The ship's concept was first introduced at the MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre on October 18–19, 2025.
With its inaugural departure drawing near, the M/V Piano Land is not merely a cruise ship, but a symbol of transformation in sea travel.
