If you postponed your vacation to the coastal areas of Mataram City earlier this year due to Extreme Weather, now is the time for a comeback. Good news comes from the Mataram City Tourism Office in West Nusa Tenggara, stating that tourism visitation trends are rising again as weather conditions become more favorable.
Loang Baloq Beach and Ampenan Beach, two Favorite Destinations for both locals and out-of-town tourists, are crowded with visitors again. After a slump from January to early February 2026, the beach atmosphere is gradually coming back to life, especially on weekends.
"Alhamdulillah, the tourism sector in Mataram City is now showing a positive trend alongside improving weather conditions," said Mataram City Tourism Office Head Cahya Samudra.

During the extreme weather period, Tourist Visits reportedly dropped by over 50%. Under normal conditions, Loang Baloq Beach could receive 800 to over 1,000 visitors per day on weekends. But when weather worsened, that number plummeted to around 200 people.
Interestingly, as soon as sunny weather returned, public enthusiasm surged immediately.
"The phenomenon we observed is that whenever the weather is good on Saturdays and Sundays, people immediately flock in crowds. Especially recently with the very busy Durian Festival, visitors exceeded 1,000," he said.
This phenomenon shows that Beach Tourism in Mataram isn't just a Healing spot, but also a much-anticipated social and entertainment space. Psychologically, people tend to restrain themselves during extreme weather, but immediately seize the moment when conditions improve.
Though tourism visits are improving, safety factors remain a priority.
"The Task Force and Tourism Awareness Groups must monitor and report conditions of Tourist Destinations regularly, especially to anticipate sudden weather changes," he emphasized.
This supervision is crucial to ensure tourists feel safe and comfortable while enjoying the beach atmosphere.
With increasingly stable weather, the opportunity for revival of Mataram City's coastal tourism is wide open. For young travelers who love sunset chasing, beachside culinary adventures, or simply quality time with friends, this could be the perfect moment to rediscover the charm of NTB's beaches.
